ads-b technical
ADS‑B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance–Broadcast) is a system in which an aircraft uses GPS to determine its position and continuously broadcasts that location, speed and identification to nearby aircraft and ground stations. For investors, ADS‑B matters because regulatory mandates and airline modernization programs create steady demand for avionics equipment, air‑traffic infrastructure and data services—similar to how a smartphone network spurs hardware and app markets by sharing real‑time locations.
atc technical
The ATC (Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical) classification is a standardized system that groups medicines by the part of the body they act on and their therapeutic properties, similar to shelving books by genre and subject in a library. Investors use ATC codes to compare drugs with the same purpose, track market size and competition within a therapy area, and gauge how a new product might fit into or disrupt existing treatment categories.
conditional flow matching technical
A machine learning method for building conditional generative models that learns a continuous “flow” transforming a simple random input into realistic samples tied to specific conditions or prompts. Think of it like learning a recipe that steadily turns plain dough into many different finished loaves depending on flavor instructions; for investors, it describes a technical tool used in AI products that generate tailored synthetic data, images, or signals when given particular inputs.
vision transformer technical
A vision transformer is a type of artificial intelligence model that analyzes images by breaking them into small patches and processing those patches with a transformer architecture originally developed for language tasks. Think of it as reading a picture like a page of words: the model learns how different parts of the image relate to each other to recognize objects or patterns. Its relevance to investors lies in how it powers products and services that use visual AI—affecting technological capability, product differentiation, development costs, and potential market opportunities across industries.

SILICON VALLEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Archer Aviation Inc. (NYSE: ACHR) today announced its aviation foundation model, ZEE, achieved a technical breakthrough demonstrating the capability to accurately predict real-time aircraft trajectories on the airport surface minutes into the future, a frontier breakthrough in its mission to lead the industry in building physical AI for aerospace and defense. Archer shared the technical details underpinning this achievement in a technical blog, also released today.

Controllers and flight crews face the growing cognitive burden of coordinating over 44,000 daily flights across the National Airspace System. While most modernization efforts focus on airspace congestion, runway-related incidents account for 30% to 40% of global aviation accidents. As demand on the National Airspace System continues to grow, modernization requires AI systems that can process complex airspace data in real time, extending the situational awareness of pilots and controllers.

Archer's goal with ZEE is to move beyond passive data aggregation, establishing it as an active, highly accurate predictive layer for air traffic management around the world, creating a proactive, safer, more scalable foundation for the next era of aviation.

“ZEE provides a highly accurate ‘window into the future,’ transforming raw observations from a myriad of inputs into predictive context, helping to identify path anomalies and cross-route conflicts before they develop into safety risks. We believe ZEE can give the humans in the loop the most critical asset in aviation: time to react,” said Mario Srouji, VP of AI Products at Archer.

Prediction models struggle with the fluid, branching choices an aircraft can make on the ground. To solve this, ZEE was purpose-built by Archer’s leading AI team using a state-of-the-art generative framework called “conditional flow matching” to model the full distribution of possible futures rather than a single rigid path. This capability is paired with a vision transformer trained on high-resolution satellite imagery, enabling ZEE to "see" native map features like runways, taxiways, and aprons, grounding its spatial calculations and predictions in real-world physical data.

Archer has already begun testing this technology at Hawthorne Airport, which Archer acquired control of late last year. Early results measured against real-world tracking data have been strong, and larger-scale testing is now underway.

To safely transition this technology into the aviation ecosystem, Archer will work with government agencies to build the rigorous empirical foundation needed to further demonstrate ZEE’s effectiveness as a predictive safety net supporting human controllers and pilots across the globe.
