Archer (NYSE: ACHR) announced plans to open a new UK engineering hub in South West England under its UK subsidiary to support regional aerospace and defence work.

Archer said it will work alongside Anduril UK and GKN Aerospace on the British Army’s Project NYX and the Ministry of Defence’s Land Autonomous Collaborative Platform programme, and may explore opportunities at GKN’s Isle of Wight airframe facility.

Archer also announced it has hired Dr. Limhi Somerville, a senior British eVTOL engineering leader, who will join in early 2026 to support development of Archer’s hybrid‑propulsion, dual‑use vertical lift platform and to build local engineering talent.

The airport sits on an 80‑acre site with approximately 190,000 sq ft of terminal, office and hangar facilities, and is located less than three miles from LAX. The alliance gives Archer exclusive access to Army‑validated tiltrotor tech and, together with recently acquired IP from Overair and Lilium plus a prior powertrain supply agreement with Anduril and EDGE Group, aims to accelerate development of a dual‑use aircraft with improved speed, range, payload and low thermal and acoustic signatures for contested environments.
