Forms Part of $6.5 Billion Multi-Jurisdiction Financing Round

LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Ares Management Corporation (NYSE: ARES), a leading global alternative investment manager, announced today that certain of its funds (“Ares”) provided $2.0 billion of a $6.5 billion multi-jurisdiction financing for Phoenix Tower International (“PTI”), a leading global owner and operator of telecom tower infrastructure. As part of the transaction, Ares funded approximately $1.8 billion at closing.

The new debt facility will be used to consolidate PTI’s existing loans and provide substantial additional capacity to support further growth across existing and new markets globally. “This $6.5 billion financing, the largest of its kind for a privately held tower company, reflects our lenders’ confidence in PTI and our team’s execution across 23 jurisdictions. It strengthens our capital structure and positions us to keep delivering for customers globally. We are grateful to Ares and Apollo for their partnership,” said Michael Bremer, Chief Financial Officer of PTI.

Key Terms

debt facility financial
A debt facility is a formal arrangement that lets a company borrow money from a bank or group of lenders under agreed terms, such as a one-time loan, a revolving credit line, or other financed options—think of it as a business’s mortgage or credit card with set rules. Investors care because it affects how much cash a company has for operations and growth, how much interest and risk it carries, and whether loan terms could limit dividends, share buybacks, or trigger default if financial targets aren’t met.
private credit financial
Private credit is a form of borrowing where companies or organizations obtain loans directly from private lenders rather than traditional banks or financial markets. It often involves customized financing arrangements that are not traded publicly, making it a way for businesses to access funding outside of standard channels. For investors, private credit offers the potential for higher returns, but typically comes with increased risk and less liquidity compared to more conventional investments.
aum financial
Assets under management (AUM) is the total market value of investments that a financial firm or fund manages on behalf of clients. Investors watch AUM like the size of a shop: larger AUM can mean more fee revenue, greater market influence and perceived stability, while rapid changes in AUM signal growing popularity or redemptions that may affect future earnings and investment strategy.
