Key Terms

joint venture, behind-the-meter generation, offtakers
3 terms
joint venture financial
"through a 50/50 joint venture with energy-infrastructure company 10NetZero."
A joint venture is when two or more companies team up to work on a specific project or business idea, sharing both the risks and the rewards. It’s like friends starting a lemonade stand together—each contributes resources and they split the profits, making it easier to succeed than going alone.
behind-the-meter generation technical
"existing natural-gas infrastructure also provides the potential to add behind-the-meter generation"
Behind-the-meter generation is electricity produced on the customer side of the utility meter—for example, rooftop solar panels or a battery system that powers a building directly. It matters to investors because it reduces the amount of power customers buy from utilities, can lower operating costs for businesses, change revenue patterns for energy companies, and shift investment and regulatory risk; think of it like a household growing its own food instead of buying groceries.
offtakers financial
"discussions with potential development partners and offtakers for its power assets."
Offtakers are the buyers who agree to purchase a company's product or output under a contract, often for a set price and period; think of them as long-term subscribers who guarantee future sales. For investors, confirmed offtake agreements matter because they provide predictable revenue and reduce the risk that a project or business will be left with unsold output, improving the reliability of cash flow forecasts and the creditworthiness of deals.
