BlackSky’s real-time intelligence to power automated facility monitoring insights for retail investors through AI agents

HERNDON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- BlackSky Technology Inc. (NYSE: BKSY) is the first satellite imagery provider for SkyFi’s “Satellite Intelligence”, a Robinhood Agent App available in the coming weeks. The application integrates SkyFi’s AI analytics and Earth observation data sets built from BlackSky’s rapid-revisit, very high-resolution imagery into the Robinhood Agent Apps ecosystem, making defense-grade geospatial intelligence of facilities associated with major publicly traded companies accessible to retail investors.

“By delivering BlackSky's real-time intelligence to SkyFi for its Robinhood Agent App, we are giving retail investors actionable insights from space,” said Brian O’Toole, BlackSky CEO. “Our dynamic monitoring constellation was purpose built to deliver rapid revisit, very high-resolution imagery within a fraction of traditional timelines. The same speed, agility and proven capability that serves defense and intelligence agencies can now empower individual market participants to monitor economic activity as it happens.”

"What investors want from a satellite is an answer: how many trucks were at a fulfillment hub last week, how much construction progress has been made at a data center build site since last month,” said Luke Fischer, CEO of SkyFi. “Until now, monitoring economic activity has largely been a capability only accessible by institutions with large data budgets. Working with Robinhood, we will put that category of satellite intelligence in front of individual customers through their agent.”

Fischer added, “We spent the past year making SkyFi callable by any AI agent over MCP, so a question goes straight to orbit and comes back as an image with a number and date on it. SkyFi delivers an image, analysis, and the time it was captured. What a customer does with it is theirs to decide. Robinhood is the first place these workflows will show up at scale.”

The integration builds on a foundational SkyFi and BlackSky partnership that is bringing tasking of BlackSky's high-cadence Gen-2 and 35-cm Gen-3 imagery collection into the SkyFi platform. Through the SkyFi "Satellite Intelligence" app, subscribers will interact naturally with AI agents to access four recurring observational data sets monitoring sites associated with Robinhood’s top traded stock symbols that track vehicle production, e-commerce fulfillment hub logistics, data center construction, and theme park attendance.

The app relies on the high-performance capabilities of BlackSky Spectra®, which automates satellite tasking, image processing, and AI feature extraction in under 90 minutes from collection. Users benefit from a highly versatile constellation capable of delivering low latency 35 cm resolution for the sharpest clarity to accurately isolate vehicles, infrastructure assets, and materials. Time diverse collection and hourly revisits capture dynamic operational activity and change throughout the day.

The SkyFi “Satellite Intelligence” Robinhood Agent App integration underscores BlackSky’s expansion into commercial data distribution, translating its core strength in time-dominant national security applications into immediate value for the broader digital economy.

Key Terms

earth observation data sets technical
Collections of digital measurements and images of the Earth's surface, atmosphere, or oceans gathered by satellites, aircraft, drones, or ground sensors. They can be raw or processed into products (for example optical, multispectral, hyperspectral, radar/SAR, LiDAR, thermal or meteorological files) and are characterized by spatial resolution, temporal revisit, spectral bands and geolocation accuracy; many require processing, calibration and licensing and can be limited by factors such as cloud cover, sensor resolution and revisit frequency.
satellite tasking technical
The process of sending commands and schedules to one or more satellites to collect specific data, make observations, relay communications, or carry out maneuvers. For investors, satellite tasking determines how efficiently a satellite fleet is used and how reliably customers get the data or services they paid for — like assigning delivery jobs to drivers so capacity is used, revenue opportunities are captured, and contractual obligations are met.
ai feature extraction technical
The automated process of identifying, transforming and selecting measurable attributes (features) from raw data that a machine‑learning model will use as input. Features can be simple engineered values (counts, averages, categorical encodings) or learned representations produced by algorithms (for example, embeddings from a neural network); the extraction step converts heterogeneous inputs — text, numbers, images, sensor readings — into numeric vectors that capture patterns the model can use. Because extracted features determine what information the model can learn, the methods used (manual engineering versus automated/learned approaches), the choice of inputs, and preprocessing steps directly affect model behavior, explainability and potential biases, and must be validated for the model’s intended use in regulated settings.
