Private equity involves investing money directly into private companies or buying out public companies to make them private, with the goal of improving their performance and increasing their value over time. For investors, it offers an opportunity to earn returns by helping companies grow or restructure, often requiring a longer-term commitment and a higher level of involvement than typical stock investments.
merchant bankingfinancial
Merchant banking is a type of financial service where a firm provides large-scale business financing, takes equity stakes, and advises on mergers, acquisitions and capital raising for companies rather than serving everyday customers. It matters to investors because merchant banks put money into deals and influence corporate decisions, so their involvement can signal growth prospects, change risk exposure, or create opportunities for higher returns—think of them as a contractor who both builds part of a project and helps fund it.
tokenizationtechnical
Tokenization is the process of converting real-world assets or rights into digital tokens stored on a computer network. This allows assets, such as property or investments, to be divided into smaller parts, making them easier to buy, sell, or transfer electronically. For investors, tokenization can increase access to a wider range of investments and make transactions faster and more efficient.
stablecoinsfinancial
Stablecoins are a type of digital currency designed to maintain a steady value, often linked to traditional currencies like the dollar or euro. They function like digital cash that offers the convenience of online transactions while avoiding the large price swings common with other cryptocurrencies. This stability makes them useful for investors and users who want a reliable way to store and transfer value without exposure to sudden market changes.
bookrunnerfinancial
A bookrunner is the lead bank or financial firm that organizes and manages a new securities offering, acting like a project manager who sets the price range, collects investor demand, and decides how shares are allocated. For investors, the bookrunner’s choices and reputation influence the final price, how many shares each buyer receives, and the overall chance the deal succeeds — similar to how a trusted referee shapes a fair and well-run auction.
