dash camera imagerytechnical
Dash camera imagery is the video or still images recorded by a camera mounted on a vehicle’s dashboard or windshield that document driving events, road conditions, and vehicle interactions. For investors, this footage matters because it can serve as direct evidence in accident investigations, insurance claims, regulatory reviews, and product-safety assessments—like a home security camera for a car—potentially affecting liability, repair costs, insurance expenses, and reputation risk.
machine learning algorithmstechnical
Machine learning algorithms are computer programs that learn patterns from historical data to make predictions or decisions without following step-by-step human instructions; think of them as a teacher-trained assistant that recognizes trends and applies them to new situations. For investors, they matter because they can improve forecasting, automate trading, detect fraud, and personalize services—potentially boosting returns and cutting costs—while also introducing risks tied to data quality, model errors, and regulatory or transparency issues.
ai analyticstechnical
AI analytics uses computer programs that learn from large amounts of data to detect patterns, predict trends, and summarize complex information. For investors, it acts like a fast, attentive research assistant that can surface hidden risks or opportunities, speed decisions, and inform valuation or portfolio moves. Its usefulness depends on the quality of the underlying data and how the software is built, so outputs should be checked, not assumed infallible.
asset analyticstechnical
Asset analytics is the process of collecting and examining data about financial or physical assets to understand their value, performance, costs and risks. For investors it acts like a dashboard and map combined — showing which holdings are doing well or poorly, highlighting hidden danger signs, and helping decide where to buy, sell or allocate capital to improve returns and reduce surprises.
crowd-sourced imagerytechnical
Images and visual data gathered from many individual contributors—customers, employees, contractors or the public—through apps, social platforms or open submissions, then aggregated for analysis. Investors care because this “many-eyes” feed can reveal real-time signals about product demand, store traffic, construction progress, supply-chain issues or localized events that traditional reports may miss, helping assess operational trends and risks sooner.
Bentley’s Blyncsy solution uses AI to help the Hawaii Department of Transportation spot roadway damage faster, prioritize repairs, and keep drivers safe
EXTON, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Bentley Systems, Incorporated (Nasdaq: BSY), the infrastructure engineering software company, announced today its Blyncsy solution is being used by the Hawaii Department of Transportation (Hawaii DOT) in the Eyes on the Road program—an initiative driven by the Hawaii DOT in partnership with The University of Hawaii to enhance roadway safety statewide.

The Eyes on the Road project provides 1,000 free high-resolution dash cameras to Hawaii residents to install in their vehicles, to improve roadway conditions and keep the roads safe. The cameras record video automatically as residents drive normally each day. The collected crowd-sourced imagery captures road safety issues such as guardrail damage, vegetation encroachment, debris on the road or along the shoulder, and other roadway hazards. The footage is uploaded to the cloud through a cellular connection and then automatically analyzed using machine learning algorithms and advanced AI analytics from Bentley’s Blyncsy, anonymously.
Blyncsy, part of Bentley’s Asset Analytics portfolio, transforms dash camera footage and other roadway imagery into actionable insights. It automatically detects and reports on the condition of critical transportation assets, enabling transportation agencies to prioritize maintenance, improve safety, and make data-driven decisions more efficiently.
In the Eyes on the Road program, Bentley’s Blyncsy is used to identify and report roadway issues to Hawaii DOT in near real time, allowing maintenance crews to address and rectify these issues swiftly, ensuring that roads are kept safe for vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians.
“Our crews have been working with Blyncsy to refine the machine learning algorithms to amplify our efforts to efficiently maintain our transportation infrastructure,” said Hawaii Department of Transportation Director Ed Sniffen. “The Eyes on the Road program will give us the information we need to get to damaged facilities quickly.”
Mark Pittman, senior director of Transportation AI at Bentley Systems, added, “Bentley’s goal is to give transportation agencies real-time visibility into the state of their roadways. By combining AI and machine learning analytics with dash cam imagery, we are helping Hawaii DOT move from reactive to proactive maintenance to reduce risk, lower costs, and save lives.”
