3 terms
perpetual futures financial
"Perpetual futures, or "perps," are futures contracts that provide continuous exposure"
Perpetual futures are contracts that let investors bet on an asset’s price without a set expiration date, combining the ability to use borrowed funds with a recurring small payment or receipt that keeps the contract price close to the actual market price. They matter because they offer continuous, high-leverage exposure and deep liquidity—useful for quick trading and price discovery—but also raise the risk of forced exits and amplified losses, so they change how investors manage risk.
designated contract market regulatory
"listed on KalshiEX LLC, a CFTC-regulated Designated Contract Market (DCM)"
A designated contract market is a regulated, public exchange where standardized futures and options contracts are bought and sold, similar to a supervised marketplace with clear rules and a referee to enforce them. It matters to investors because trading on such an exchange provides transparent prices, predictable contract terms and built‑in safeguards that reduce counterparty risk, making it easier to assess value and execute trades reliably.
derivatives clearing organization regulatory
"cleared through Kalshi Klear LLC, a CFTC-regulated Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO)"
A derivatives clearing organization is a regulated financial middleman that stands between buyers and sellers of futures, options, and other contracts to make sure trades are completed even if one side cannot pay. It collects collateral, nets offsetting positions, and runs backup plans for defaults, like an insurance pool for trades. Investors care because it reduces the chance of sudden losses from a counterparty failure, supports market liquidity, and makes derivatives trading safer and more reliable.

Perpetual futures will include Bitcoin (BTC) and select crypto assets

NEW YORK, Oct. 20, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Webull (NASDAQ: BULL) an online investment platform, today announced it will offer perpetual futures to eligible U.S. customers starting in November, expanding its derivatives offering through access to a growing asset class through a regulated platform.

Perpetual futures, or "perps," are futures contracts that provide continuous exposure to an underlying asset without a fixed expiration date. Unlike traditional futures, perps eliminate the need to manage contract expirations or roll positions into new contracts. Instead, a periodic funding mechanism helps keep the contract price aligned with the underlying asset, allowing traders to maintain exposure for as long as their position remains open and applicable margin requirements are met.

"Perpetual futures have become a significant part of global derivatives markets, with annual volume reaching more than $90 trillion in 2025," said Anthony Denier, Group President and U.S. CEO of Webull. "As this market continues to grow, we believe U.S. investors should have access to perpetual futures through a regulated platform they already know and trust, bringing a product with significant global adoption into the U.S. regulated futures market."

Webull's perpetual futures will be listed on KalshiEX LLC, a CFTC-regulated Designated Contract Market (DCM), and cleared through Kalshi Klear LLC, a CFTC-regulated Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO). Webull will begin rolling out perpetual futures in November, with broader availability anticipated before year-end. The initial offering will include Bitcoin and other crypto assets, with additional products to follow, subject to applicable regulatory review and exchange listing requirements.

"As the U.S. market evolves to accommodate new derivatives products, bringing more activity into a regulated, onshore framework is an important step forward," said Tanmay Sheth, Managing Director of the FCM, Futures and Prediction Markets at Webull. "We see an opportunity to combine the accessibility of a modern brokerage platform with the infrastructure and risk controls required for leveraged derivatives. That means giving users clear visibility into margin requirements, funding rates, leverage and liquidation levels, while providing seamless access to a broader range of markets through a single platform."

Webull customers will be able to access perpetual futures through their existing Webull Futures accounts, alongside other futures products, while continuing to access stocks, options, crypto, and prediction markets through the broader Webull platform. Perpetual futures will initially be available to eligible U.S. customers approved for futures trading.

Positions are subject to periodic funding payments and automatic liquidation if margin falls below maintenance requirements. Perpetual futures involve significant risk and are not suitable for all investors.
