Key Terms

fiscal year financial
A fiscal year is a 12-month period that companies and governments use for financial planning and reporting, which might not match the calendar year (January to December). It’s like a school year that starts in one month and ends in another—helping organizations track their income, expenses, and budgets over a specific period.
guidance financial
Guidance is the information that a company provides about its expected future performance or plans. It helps investors understand what the company aims to achieve and whether it anticipates growth or challenges ahead, much like a weather forecast helps people prepare for upcoming conditions. This information influences investment decisions by giving a clearer picture of the company's outlook.
question-and-answer session financial
A question-and-answer session is a live portion of a presentation or call where company leaders respond to questions from investors, analysts or reporters. Like asking follow-up questions at a meeting to clarify someone's plan, these interactions reveal management’s reasoning, clarify forecasts and expose uncertainties that aren’t in prepared remarks, which can change how investors value the business.
