Key Terms

polyamide technical
Polyamide is a class of plastics and fibers—think of it as long chains of repeating chemical links (like a beaded necklace)—that includes well-known materials such as nylon and other engineered nylons used in clothing, automotive parts, electronics, and industrial components. It matters to investors because polyamides are a basic industrial input: changes in their cost, availability, regulation or recyclability can affect manufacturers’ margins, product performance and supply chains, making them a driver of earnings and capital spending in many sectors.
feedstock technical
Feedstock is the raw material—such as crude oil, natural gas, agricultural crops, or recycled plastics—used as the primary input to make fuels, chemicals, plastics, or other industrial products; think of it as the ingredients you put into a factory recipe. For investors, feedstock matters because its price, supply stability and quality directly shape producers’ costs, profit margins and ability to meet demand, so shifts in feedstock markets can alter company earnings and valuations.
base resin technical
Base resin is the primary raw plastic material — the polymer pellets produced by chemical plants that are melted, mixed with additives, and formed into consumer goods, packaging, and industrial parts. For investors, base resin is like a key ingredient cost: its price, quality and availability directly affect manufacturers’ production costs, product prices and profit margins, so shifts in resin markets can signal supply-chain risks or margin pressure for companies that make or use plastics.
