REX Shares (CHIP) has launched the REX AI Chipmaking ETF targeting semiconductor equipment companies, with a 0.65% expense ratio.
The fund seeks exposure to the “equipment layer” of the AI buildout, focusing on firms providing wafer fabrication equipment, advanced packaging and metrology tools rather than chip designers or foundries. It tracks the VettaFi AI Chipmaking Index, which allocates 50% to wafer fabrication equipment, 25% to advanced packaging and 25% to metrology, across 55 constituents as of August 31, 2026, capped at 5% per name at quarterly rebalancing. Only about one-third of constituents have a primary U.S. listing, with notable Japanese and Dutch firms included, giving global reach that would be hard to replicate using only U.S.-listed stocks. The ETF lists on Nasdaq under ticker CHIP and entails AI, semiconductor cycle, concentration, foreign market, new fund and ETF trading risks, including possible loss of principal.
