Key Terms

4k technical
4k describes a screen or video resolution with roughly 4,000 horizontal pixels (commonly about 3840×2160), delivering much sharper, more detailed images than standard high definition—think of viewing a finely detailed photo instead of a blurred one when you zoom in. For investors, 4k matters because it influences product pricing, consumer demand, manufacturing costs and component supply chains, all of which can affect revenue, margins and competitive positioning.
dolby vision technical
Dolby Vision is a premium video format that makes on-screen images look brighter, darker and more colorful by sending frame-by-frame instructions about how to show each scene. For investors, its importance lies in how wide adoption can boost sales and pricing power for makers of TVs, phones and streaming services, influence content licensing and signal which devices or platforms can command a premium in the market.
dolby atmos technical
Dolby Atmos is a branded audio technology that creates three-dimensional, moving sound by placing audio “objects” around and above the listener instead of just left/right channels. For investors it matters because widespread use of this technology can raise the value of devices, streaming content and venues that support it, drive licensing and hardware sales, and become a competitive feature that helps companies charge higher prices or attract more users—like upgrading from a flat painting to a surround sculpture for sound.
ultra-low latency technical
Ultra-low latency means reducing the time it takes for market data or an order to travel between systems and be acted on to the smallest possible fraction of a second. For investors, lower delay can mean faster trade execution, smaller price slippage and the ability to capture fleeting price differences—like a sprinter beating others to the finish line—so firms with ultra-low latency systems can gain a measurable edge in competitive trading environments.
wifi technical
Wi-Fi is a technology that lets devices like phones, laptops, and sensors connect wirelessly to the internet and to each other over short distances, using radio signals instead of cables. For investors it matters because Wi‑Fi affects how products work, how businesses run and scale, and where revenue or costs may come from—think of it as the invisible roadway that enables digital services, office productivity, retail checkout and many internet‑connected devices to function reliably.

Xfinity Delivers the Big Game in 4K with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, up to 30 Seconds Faster than the Competition

Xfinity TV Customers Can Enjoy NBC Sports’ Super Bowl Presentation on the Peacock 4K Channel Featuring a Full-Day of 4K Olympics and Super Bowl Coverage

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Comcast’s Xfinity today announced the launch of RealTime4K, a new ultra-low latency technology that gives customers the fastest, most lifelike experience for viewing live sports in 4K. This innovative format will deliver the Super Bowl to Xfinity TV customers just seconds behind the on-field action, and up to 30 seconds faster than other 4K providers. Xfinity is the only major service provider to offer the Super Bowl in both Dolby Vision® and Dolby Atmos®, available to its TV customers through a new Peacock 4K channel. Only Xfinity delivers an experience that puts customers this close to the sights and sounds of the action from Santa Clara, Calif.

“Nothing kills watching a live sporting event faster than getting a text or seeing a play on social media before it hits your screen,” said Jon Gieselman, Chief Growth Officer, Connectivity and Platforms, Comcast. “With Xfinity’s new RealTime4K tech, spoilers don’t stand a chance. This ultra-low lag technology means our customers are always ahead of the action. Simply put, when it comes to live sports, no one competes with Xfinity.”

A Network Built to Elevate Every 4K Viewing Experience

RealTime4K is made possible by Comcast’s continued innovation and capacity investments in its best-in-class network. The company recently deployed technology in its network – usable on all 4K-delivered programming - that eliminates compression steps in the delivery pipeline so live 4K programming reaches customers’ homes faster than ever before. To offer the best video and audio experience, 4K programming is delivered over Comcast’s network at the highest possible bitrate - double that of traditional 4K.

“Delivering our customers the best live sports viewing experience has been core to how we think about innovation at Comcast – it’s in our DNA,” said Fraser Stirling, Global Chief Product Officer, Comcast. “The technology we’ve put in place to enable the delivery of programming in RealTime4K, combined with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos further differentiates Xfinity from the competition by offering sporting events, like the Super Bowl and Olympics, in the fastest and most immersive way possible. Only made possible by our WiFi, network and entertainment platforms working better together.”

Super Sunday: A Day of RealTime4K Programming

Xfinity TV customers with eligible devices and compatible 4K TVs can experience the Super Bowl LX with RealTime4K, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos through a dedicated Peacock 4K channel that will also feature morning, primetime and overnight coverage of the Milan Cortina Olympic Winter Games. Customers can find the RealTime4K channel directly in the guide on X1 and the Xfinity Stream app, offering an effortless way to watch the day’s biggest moments from two of the biggest sporting events of the year – no changing inputs, no app switching and no channel surfing.

The channel will begin with live 4K Olympics coverage in the morning before transitioning to Super Bowl programming, including pre‑game, halftime, and post‑game coverage. After the game, the channel will return to Milan for special primetime and late‑night Olympics programming. Customers can also find the Super Bowl in 4K throughout the X1 and Stream user interfaces or by saying “Sports” into their Xfinity Voice Remote.

Customers who don’t have a 4K-capable Xfinity X1 TV box will see a prompt on their current device to upgrade and get a new device, ensuring they’re ready to enjoy the Super Bowl and Olympics in RealTime4K. They can also visit a nearby Xfinity store to exchange their existing X1 TV box for 4K-capable one.

These innovations are part of Comcast’s ongoing commitment to redefine how fans engage with live sports by offering the most immersive and effortless way to watch all the biggest moments – all in one place. By combining best-in-class technology such as RealTime4K, Multiview and Fan View alongside innovative and simplified packaging like Sports & News TV and World Soccer Ticket, Xfinity is delivering a seamless, personalized, and comprehensive sports experience unlike anything else available from other pay-TV distributors.
