etf financial
An ETF, or exchange-traded fund, is like a basket of different investments such as stocks or bonds that you can buy or sell easily on the stock market, just like a regular share. It allows people to invest in many companies at once, making it a simple way to grow savings without picking individual stocks.
covered call strategy financial
A covered call strategy is an income-focused tactic where an investor who already owns shares sells someone else the right to buy those shares at a set price for a limited time, collecting a payment up front. It’s like renting out a possession: you earn steady cash but give up some potential upside if the asset’s price soars, while also gaining a small cushion against modest declines—important for investors balancing income and risk.
futures contracts financial
A futures contract is an agreement to buy or sell a specific quantity of an asset at a set price on a predetermined future date. Investors use them to lock in prices or to bet on price moves; like agreeing today on the price of a loaf of bread you'll buy months from now to avoid surprise cost changes. Because these deals often require only a small upfront payment compared with the contract size, they can both protect against risk and magnify gains or losses.
spot price financial
The spot price is the current market price at which an asset can be bought or sold for immediate delivery, like the price tag on an item in a store that tells you what you would pay right now. It matters to investors because it serves as the real-time benchmark for valuing holdings, making trades, and comparing offers—changes in the spot price reflect immediate supply and demand and can signal market direction.
