investment bankingfinancial
Investment banking is a financial service that helps companies raise money by selling stocks or bonds to investors, similar to how a broker connects buyers and sellers. It also advises businesses on mergers, acquisitions, and other major financial decisions, acting as a guide through complex transactions. For investors, investment banking facilitates access to opportunities and ensures that large financial deals are managed smoothly and efficiently.
mergers and acquisitionsfinancial
Mergers and acquisitions are processes where companies combine or one company purchases another to grow or improve their business. Think of it like two teams joining forces or one team buying out another to become stronger and more competitive. These activities matter to investors because they can influence a company's value, future growth, and overall market position.
restructuringsfinancial
Restructurings involve making significant changes to a company's operations, finances, or organizational structure to improve its stability and long-term prospects. Think of it like reorganizing a cluttered house to make it more functional and efficient; similarly, companies adjust their resources, debts, or management to become stronger. For investors, restructurings can signal efforts to recover from difficulties or prepare for future growth, influencing their decisions.
capital structurefinancial
Capital structure is the way a company finances its operations and growth by using different sources of money, such as borrowed funds (loans or bonds) and owner’s equity (investments from owners or shareholders). It’s like a recipe for baking a cake, where the balance of ingredients affects the final product's strength and taste; similarly, the mix of debt and equity influences a company's stability and risk. For investors, understanding a company's capital structure helps gauge how risky it might be to invest or lend money.
equity researchfinancial
Equity research is the process of studying a publicly traded company's business, finances and market position to form an informed view on whether its stock is a good investment. Think of it as a detailed inspection and forecast — analysts gather facts, estimate future profits and risks, and then recommend buy, hold or sell; investors use these findings like a weather report to judge potential returns and risks before putting money into a stock.
equity salesfinancial
Equity sales is the activity of offering and selling shares of a company to investors, either when a company issues stock or when brokers place existing shares with buyers. It matters to investors because it determines how easily shares can be bought or sold, influences market prices through supply and demand, and can signal changes in ownership or capital needs—like a market stall bringing products to customers and setting the price by how many people want them.
agency trading executionfinancial
Agency trading execution is when a broker or trading firm carries out buy or sell orders on behalf of a client without trading against them or using the broker’s own inventory. Think of it like a driver hired to deliver a package who follows the client’s instructions rather than using the package for their own purposes; this helps ensure the client’s interests guide timing, price and handling. Investors care because it affects transparency, potential conflicts of interest, fees and whether the execution seeks the best available market price.
wealth and investment managementfinancial
Wealth and investment management involves guiding individuals or organizations in growing and protecting their financial resources through careful planning, investment choices, and ongoing advice. It helps clients make informed decisions to achieve their financial goals, much like a personal trainer helps someone reach fitness targets through tailored workouts. This service is essential for building financial security and ensuring resources are used effectively over time.
