5 terms
annualized distribution yield financial
"The current annualized distribution rate equates to an annualized distribution yield"
Annualized distribution yield is the projected yearly income an investor would receive from a security (like a fund, REIT, or ETF) expressed as a percentage of its current price, calculated by scaling recent distributions to a full year. It matters because it lets investors compare how much cash return different income-producing investments may provide, like using a yearly interest rate to judge bank accounts, though it does not guarantee future payouts or account for changes in price.
net asset value financial
"based on the Fund's net asset value (NAV) and market price"
Net asset value is the total value of an investment fund's assets minus any liabilities, divided by the number of shares or units outstanding. It represents the per-share worth of the fund, similar to how the value of a house is determined by its total worth after debts are subtracted. Investors use it to gauge the true value of their holdings and to compare different investment options.
View in glossary
non-accrual levels financial
"senior secured debt that provide strong structural protections and characterized by low non-accrual levels"
Non-accrual levels are the dollar amount or percentage of a lender’s loans or interest‑bearing assets that have been placed on non-accrual status, meaning the lender has stopped recording contract interest income because payments are past due or collectibility is doubtful. They matter to investors as a measure of asset quality and credit stress: like a landlord deciding not to count rent from tenants who aren’t paying, higher non-accrual levels indicate more problem loans that can reduce future income and lead to write‑downs.
net investment income financial
"does not consist solely of net investment income"
Net investment income is the money an investor or fund actually keeps from its investments after subtracting the costs of running those investments (like management fees, interest, and losses). Think of it as your paycheck from owning assets: gross returns minus the bills needed to earn them. Investors watch it because it shows how profitable the investment activities are, influences dividend payouts and cash available for growth, and helps compare true performance across funds or companies.
return of capital financial
"including but not limited to short-term capital gains, long-term capital gains or return of capital"
Return of capital is when an investor receives money from their investment that is not considered profit or earnings but rather a portion of the original amount they invested. It’s similar to getting back part of your initial savings rather than gains from it. This matters because it can affect how much money an investor still has in the investment and may have tax implications.
