CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- GE HealthCare today announced the launch of Invenia™ ABUS (Automated Breast Ultrasound) Prime and ABUS StreamVue™, a redesigned enterprise viewer that recently received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance and CE Marking, expanding its breast imaging portfolio with solutions designed to support supplemental screening for women with dense breasts and provide more flexible enterprise-wide exam review. Together, these new solutions aim to help breast imaging programs standardize 3D ultrasound acquisition, support remote reading, and simplify deployment across multi-site networks.

Studies conducted in the U.S. and Europe show 40% of women have dense breasts1, these women have a 4 to 6 times higher risk of developing breast cancer.2 Dense breasts can make cancers harder to detect on mammography, and may delay diagnosis.3,4,5 Research has shown that mammography may miss one-third of cancers in dense breasts, underscoring the need for supplemental screening options for these patients.6 According to results from the Breast Screening: Risk Adaptive Imaging for Density study, ABUS demonstrated higher acceptance and a more positive patient experience compared to other contrast-enhanced techniques.7

ABUS StreamVue is a zero-footprint, browser-based reading solution built to standardize ABUS exam review with remote access and adaptable licensing intended to simplify installation, maintenance and growth for enterprise imaging environments. Candelis, Inc., a leading provider of innovative and cost-effective solutions to hospitals and imaging centers, is collaborating with GE HealthCare to deliver ABUS StreamVue technology in combination with Invenia ABUS. Together with Invenia ABUS Prime, this technology aims to facilitate faster reads, remote reading and easier comparisons across sites, while assisting IT teams in managing ultrasound systems more simply across the enterprise.
