Key Terms

lsat technical
The LSAT (Law School Admission Test) is a standardized exam used by law schools to evaluate applicants’ reading, reasoning, and critical thinking skills. Investors watch LSAT-related trends because the number of test takers and score distributions act like a thermometer for demand in legal education and test-prep services—changes can signal future enrollment, revenue for education companies, and shifts in related markets such as student loans and professional hiring.
mcat technical
MCAT is the standardized Medical College Admission Test used to assess applicants' readiness for medical school, covering science knowledge, reasoning, and problem-solving. For investors, MCAT-related trends matter because changes in test volume, pass rates, or admissions rules can affect demand for test-prep businesses, the future supply of doctors, and healthcare staffing costs — similar to how a factory’s output forecast helps predict supply for an industry.
gmat technical
GMAT is a standardized exam used by business schools to assess applicants' analytical, quantitative, verbal and writing skills; think of it as a common yardstick for comparing candidates from different backgrounds. Investors may care because high GMAT scores can signal a company’s ability to recruit or develop analytically strong managers and finance professionals, which can affect strategic decision-making and long‑term performance.
gre technical
A glucocorticoid response element (GRE) is a short stretch of DNA that acts like a light switch or dimmer for specific genes, turning their activity up or down when a glucocorticoid receptor binds to it. For investors, GREs matter because they help determine how drugs that target glucocorticoid signaling will affect gene activity, which influences a therapy’s effectiveness, safety profile, clinical trial outcomes and regulatory reviews.
