Key Terms

M&A advisory financial
M&A advisory are professional services that guide companies through buying, selling, combining, or splitting businesses, like a trusted guide helping someone navigate a complicated contract and negotiation process. Investors care because advisers shape deal terms, price, timing and risk — decisions that can change a company’s value, future profits and strategy much like a real estate agent’s skill can affect the price and outcome of a home sale.
capital-raising financial
Capital-raising is the process a company uses to obtain money from investors or lenders to fund operations, expansion, acquisitions, or to pay down debt. It matters to investors because the method and amount change the company’s financial risk, future returns and ownership mix—like borrowing or pooling money for a big home project: it can enable growth but may increase obligations or dilute existing owners’ share. Common forms include selling shares or issuing debt.
restructuring financial
Restructuring is a deliberate rearrangement of a company’s operations, finances, or ownership—like reorganizing a cluttered house to run more efficiently—often involving cost cuts, asset sales, debt changes, or staff moves. Investors pay attention because restructuring can improve profitability and free up cash, but it can also signal distress, incur one-time costs, or dilute shareholder value; its success affects future earnings and stock performance.
valuation advisory financial
A valuation advisory is a professional service that estimates what a business, asset, or security is worth, similar to hiring an appraiser to set a fair price for a house. Investors use these independent estimates to decide if a stock, merger, buyout, or tax or accounting figure is reasonable, because the valuation affects what you pay, expected returns, and how risks are judged. Clear valuations help spot overpaying or bargain opportunities and support transparent financial reporting.
