Announcement highlights:
- Zachry Group (Zachry), to provide civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering services supporting Terrestrial Energy's design, development, and licensing activities at Texas A&M-RELLIS
- Agreement pairs Terrestrial Energy's advanced reactor technology and IMSR Plant design expertise with Zachry’s engineering, construction management, and NQA-1 nuclear quality program
- Builds on a multi-year working relationship between the two companies and follows the ground lease and R&D agreements announced with The Texas A&M University System on June 18, 2026
“This agreement adds an important engineering partner to our work at Texas A&M-RELLIS. Zachry’s depth of nuclear engineering and construction experience strengthens the technical rigor we bring to our site characterization and licensing activities. It also builds on a working relationship that has developed over several years and reflects the caliber of partners we are assembling to support our commercial pipeline in Texas,” said Simon Irish, CEO of Terrestrial Energy.
“We're pleased to support Terrestrial Energy's development and licensing activities at Texas A&M-RELLIS. This collaboration supports the vision of establishing RELLIS as a leading center for advanced nuclear development, bringing innovative reactor technologies and engineering expertise together to accelerate new energy solutions," said Ingmar Sterzing, President, Nuclear Construction, Zachry Group.
The agreement pairs Terrestrial Energy's advanced reactor technology and IMSR Plant design expertise with Zachry’s nuclear engineering, construction management capabilities, and NQA-1 nuclear quality program. Together, these capabilities provide the technical rigor required for the site characterization work outlined in the June 18, 2026 Texas A&M-RELLIS announcement.
Work under the agreement has commenced at Texas A&M-RELLIS to support Terrestrial Energy's engineering and licensing activity at the site.
The agreement builds on the ground lease and R&D agreements Terrestrial Energy executed earlier with The Texas A&M University System, which provide the Company with site control and exclusive access to approximately 77 acres at the Texas A&M-RELLIS campus in
About Terrestrial Energy
Terrestrial Energy is a developer of Generation IV nuclear plants that use its proprietary Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR). The IMSR captures the transformative operating benefits of molten salt reactor technology in a plant design that represents true innovation in capital efficiency, cost reduction, versatility and functionality of nuclear energy supply. IMSR Plants are designed to be small and modular for distributed supply of low-cost, reliable, dispatchable, clean, high-temperature industrial heat and electricity and to be customized for a dual-use energy role relevant to many industrial applications, such as petrochemical and chemical synthesis and data center operation. In so doing, IMSR Plants extend the application of nuclear energy far beyond electric power markets. Their deployment will support the rapid growth of clean firm heat and power, delivering energy self-reliance, grid reliability and economic growth. Terrestrial Energy uses an innovative plant design together with proven and demonstrated molten salt reactor technology and readily available and inexpensive standard-assay low-enriched uranium in its fuel for a nuclear plant with a unique set of operating characteristics and compelling transformative commercial potential. Terrestrial Energy is engaged with regulators, suppliers, industrial partners and energy end users to build, license and commission the first IMSR Plants in the early 2030s.
