Lockheed Martin senior fellow and Caltech neutral-atom physicist to lead Sqale development

LOUISVILLE, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Infleqtion (NYSE: INFQ), a quantum computing and quantum sensing company powered by neutral-atom technology, today announced the appointment of Dr. Joseph Buck as senior vice president of quantum computing systems. Dr. Buck joined the company July 27, 2026, and will lead development of Sqale, Infleqtion's scalable neutral-atom quantum computer.

Dr. Buck joined Infleqtion from Lockheed Martin, where he served as senior fellow at the Advanced Technology Center. He has spent 23 years building quantum, optical, and photonic systems for government, defense, and commercial customers, work that began with his Ph.D. in physics from the California Institute of Technology, where his doctoral research trapped single neutral atoms inside high-finesse optical cavities, the physics that underpins neutral-atom quantum computing today. He has authored more than 60 technical publications, holds an extensive patent portfolio, and has carried technologies from research into fielded products, including commercialized polarization gratings and advanced optics manufacturing methods.

A Record of Delivery

Infleqtion has already put neutral-atom systems in customers' hands. The company delivered the United Kingdom's only operational 100-physical-qubit quantum computing system to the National Quantum Computing Centre and has systems deployed in Japan. Its fault-tolerant, neutral-atom quantum computer is planned for delivery to the Illinois Quantum & Microelectronics Park in 2027. We anticipate Dr. Buck will convert that record into utility-scale systems.
