front-end engineering and designtechnical
Front-end engineering and design is the work of building the parts of a website or app that users see and interact with — like the layout, buttons, visuals, and how pages respond to clicks or taps. For investors it matters because a clear, fast, and attractive user interface is like a well-designed storefront: it helps attract and keep customers, improves conversion and engagement, and can lower support and development costs, all of which affect revenue and growth potential.
feedtechnical
A feed is a continuous stream of digital information—such as price updates, trading data, or news—pushed to users or systems in real time. Think of it like a faucet that delivers fresh data every second: the faster and more reliable the flow, the quicker investors and automated systems can react to market moves and new information. Feed quality affects trading decisions, risk management, and the timeliness of financial analysis.
engineering, procurement, and constructiontechnical
Engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) is a contract model where a single party designs a project, buys the necessary equipment and materials, and builds the facility to hand over a finished, working asset. Investors watch EPC arrangements because they concentrate responsibility for cost, schedule and quality with one contractor—much like hiring a general contractor to design, buy and build a house—so contractor performance directly affects project returns and risk exposure.
epctechnical
An EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contract is a single agreement where a contractor designs a project, buys the materials and builds it, then hands over a finished, ready-to-use facility—much like hiring a general contractor to deliver a completed house. For investors, EPCs matter because they concentrate responsibility for cost, schedule and delivery with the contractor, affecting a company’s revenue visibility, cash needs and exposure to construction or performance risks.
liquified natural gastechnical
Liquefied natural gas is natural gas that has been cooled until it becomes a liquid, which shrinks its volume so it can be moved and stored like other fuels. For investors, LNG matters because it makes distant gas supplies tradeable, affects global energy prices, and involves large infrastructure and shipping costs—similar to turning many loose boxes into a single pallet that’s easier to ship and sell.
lngtechnical
Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is natural gas that has been cooled into a liquid so it takes up far less space for transport and storage, like turning a bulky bundle into a compact package for shipping. Investors care because LNG enables gas trade across regions without pipelines, so changes in production, export capacity, shipping, or demand can quickly affect energy company revenues, infrastructure operators and commodity prices, amplifying both opportunity and risk.
greenhouse gas emissionstechnical
Greenhouse gas emissions are the gases a company releases into the air—like carbon dioxide or methane—that trap heat in the atmosphere and contribute to global warming. For investors, these emissions matter because they can lead to higher regulatory costs, fines, shifting consumer preferences, and physical risks (like supply-chain disruptions), or create opportunities in low-carbon products; think of emissions as a company’s climate footprint that can affect future profits and value.
optimized cascade processtechnical
An optimized cascade process is a series of linked steps arranged and adjusted so each stage hands off work, materials, or data to the next with minimal delay, waste, or mistakes. For investors, it matters because a well-tuned cascade can cut costs, boost consistent output and speed up scale-up — like a smooth assembly line or a practiced relay race — which directly affects profit margins, production reliability and the pace at which a business can grow.
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Coastal Bend LNG today announced it has selected KBR, Inc. (NYSE: KBR) and Técnicas Reunidas (IBEXC: TRE) for the front-end engineering and design (FEED) of their planned natural gas liquefaction and export facility along the Texas Gulf Coast. Upon positive final investment decision, KBR and Técnicas Reunidas will proceed to execute the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) phase of the project.
KBR and Técnicas Reunidas will collaborate to execute the FEED for multiple large-scale trains with a design utilizing ConocoPhillips’ Optimized Cascade® Process (OCP) that meets Coastal Bend LNG’s goal of producing cost-competitive liquified natural gas (LNG) while simultaneously mitigating greenhouse gas emissions.
“KBR and Técnicas Reunidas bring impressive expertise in engineering and design across many process technologies, including LNG and industrial decarbonization, and share our mission to provide low-carbon energy to the world,” said Nick Flores, CEO, Coastal Bend LNG. He added, “Our collaboration with KBR, Técnicas Reunidas, and ConocoPhillips, and their combined experience in this space, will enable us to maximize our facility’s efficiency and economic targets, while minimizing our carbon intensity.”
“KBR is proud to collaborate with Coastal Bend LNG to help shape how LNG is produced and delivered to global markets from the Texas Gulf Coast,” said Jay Ibrahim, KBR President, Sustainable Technology Solutions. “This award underscores KBR’s leadership in designing energy infrastructure that is efficient and scalable, helping to meet global energy demands. With our deep roots in the Gulf Coast and over five decades of LNG expertise, we’re proud to assist Coastal Bend LNG’s goal of setting a new standard for low-carbon LNG energy production.”
“Coastal Bend LNG exemplifies how we, along with our customers and technology providers, can develop lower carbon LNG by applying decarbonization innovations to meet the evolving expectations of LNG end-markets,” said Arthur Crossley, Deputy CEO and Chief Commercial Officer, Técnicas Reunidas.
