The state mining license authorizes extraction and sale of pegmatite, the rock hosting tantalum, tin and lithium mineralization. Together with the previously approved Lawrence County Conditional Use Permit, it completes permitting within the approved area.
Bulk sampling is targeted for 2027, supported by mineral recovery and processing studies now underway. Lion Rock is evaluating small-scale production that could fund further exploration, alongside planned Phase 2 definition and expansion drilling. Recent drilling returned up to 3,715 ppm tantalum oxide over 1.0 m, within 848 ppm over 5.6 m; lengths are measured down the drill hole. No production decision has been made. Future production remains subject to technical and economic evaluation, market conditions and applicable regulatory requirements.
Lion Rock Resources (LRRIF) has appointed retired US Air Force Colonel Leon Ray and growth executive James Winborn as strategic advisors. Ray will advise on government and military procurement and engagement as the company advances its Volney Critical Minerals and Gold Project in South Dakota's Black Hills. His more than 30 years of Air Force service included a Pentagon executive officer role and work with Congress on military initiatives.
Winborn will advise on corporate growth strategy and brand positioning, drawing on more than 15 years of leadership experience. Mapping and sampling identified visible tin and tantalum mineralization up to approximately 300 metres beyond previously reported areas, including coarse tantalite crystals up to about 10 centimetres at the Volney Lower Pit and visible cassiterite at the Rough and Ready occurrence. Over 100 grab samples were collected, with roughly 60 focused on gold and 48 on tin and tantalum, and have been submitted to SGS for assay.
Updated geological mapping has differentiated pegmatites hosting lithium, tin and tantalum, allowing commodity-specific targeting in an upcoming Phase 2 drill program.
