Mitsui Chemicals Agro, Inc., based in Tokyo, has announced that its Indoor Residual Spray (IRS) product, VECTRONTM T500, has received prequalification from the WHO. This innovative product features TENEBENALTM, the first-ever meta-diamide active ingredient, designed to combat malaria vectors effectively.
VECTRONTM T500 is notable for its efficacy against various malaria mosquito strains, including those resistant to conventional insecticides. It is non-repellent, odorless, and low in mammalian toxicity, set for launch in sub-Saharan Africa starting 2023, supporting the goal of effective malaria control.
