Sentiment and the balance of points

Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

New effort brings together industry stakeholders to address controller support and interoperability for persistent memory within LPDDR architectures

CHANDLER, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Everspin Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRAM), the world's leading developer and manufacturer of Magnetoresistive Random Access Memory (MRAM) solutions, today announced that Steffen Hellmold, vice president of corporate strategy, is serving as chair of the JEDEC task group focused on exploring a new LPDDR persistent memory (PMEM) standard.

The task group was established under JEDEC’s JC-42.6 Low Power Memories Subcommittee following expressions of support from several participating member companies. The proposed effort is intended to explore how persistent memory could leverage the existing LPDDR ecosystem while limiting changes to LPDDR DRAM standards and host controllers.

The work is intended to enable controller support for both DRAM and persistent memory, as well as approaches that enable LPDDR DRAM and persistent memory from multiple vendors to operate within compatible system architectures.

Steffen Hellmold, vice president of corporate strategy at Everspin Technologies and chair of the new JEDEC task group, has participated in JEDEC standards activities for more than 30 years. His career spans product development, technology strategy, business development and corporate strategy across the semiconductor, memory and data storage industries.

“I’m excited to support the JEDEC LPDDR Persistent Memory Task Group as it evaluates requirements and possible standards approaches for persistent memory within the LPDDR ecosystem,” Hellmold said. “Everspin brings more than 10 years of experience shipping DDR STT-MRAM for data center applications, giving us a practical understanding of how to integrate persistent memory into customer systems. We look forward to contributing that experience and expertise to the task group’s work.”

The task group brings together participants from across the semiconductor, memory, storage, controller and hyperscale data center ecosystem. Companies interested in participating can find information about JEDEC membership and the LPDDR PMEM effort on the JEDEC website at https://www.jedec.org/join-jedec.

lpddr technical
LPDDR (Low-Power Double Data Rate) is a kind of computer memory built for phones, tablets and other battery-powered devices, offering fast data access while consuming less energy than standard memory. Investors monitor LPDDR because its efficiency and performance influence device battery life, manufacturing cost and component demand—traits that can affect product competitiveness, sales volume and supplier profit margins, much like a fuel-efficient engine improves a car’s appeal and running costs.
dram technical
A dram is a small, traditional unit used to measure either mass or liquid volume in manufacturing and pharmaceuticals — roughly 1.77 grams for a weight dram or about 3.7 milliliters for a fluid dram, similar to a small teaspoon or a couple of drops. Investors care because dram-based measurements affect drug dosing, packaging sizes, labeling compliance and raw-material usage, which in turn influence production costs, inventory counts and regulatory risk.
stt-mram technical
STT‑MRAM is a type of computer memory that stores data using tiny magnetic elements whose orientation is flipped by an electric current, so information stays saved even when power is off. Think of it as combining the speed and endurance of working memory with the permanence of a USB drive; that mix can shrink power use, simplify device design, and improve performance. Investors watch STT‑MRAM because wide adoption could reshape demand for chips, manufacturing processes, and products across electronics and data-center markets.
