Sentiment and the balance of points

Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

Veteran commodities investor Jake Sperber appointed to lead the firm’s expansion into new asset class.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Tema ETFs (“Tema”), a leader in actively managed exchange-traded funds, today announced the launch of the Tema Commodity Income ETF (ICOM) and Tema Commodity Infrastructure ETF (THRU), listed on Texas Stock Exchange. Tema’s first commodity ETFs launch as market concentration and concerns over rising interest rates strengthen the case for commodities as a source of diversification and a hedge against inflation.

ICOM invests in dividend-paying businesses across energy, precious and base metals, and agriculture, targeting both income and commodity upside. THRU provides access to the full commodity infrastructure value chain, investing in the businesses that support commodity movement, including energy infrastructure, mining services, logistics, and exchanges, with an emphasis on companies that generate durable cash flows. Both ETFs provide shareholders with simplified Form 1099 tax reporting without a Schedule K-1.

The ETFs are managed by Jake Sperber, who joins Tema as Head of Commodities with more than two decades of experience across commodity markets and investment management. Mr. Sperber previously served as a portfolio manager at Nuveen, where he managed energy infrastructure equities within a $10 billion global real assets strategy. He also served as Global Head of Risk on Cargill’s commodity trading desk.

“Commodities remain underrepresented in most portfolios despite their potential to improve diversification and hedge inflation. ICOM and THRU give investors new ways to build that exposure as growing demand for essential resources strengthens the long-term investment case,” said Yuri Khodjamirian, CFA, Chief Investment Officer of Tema ETFs. “We’re thrilled to welcome Jake at such an exciting time for Tema and a potential inflection point for commodities as an asset class.”

ICOM and THRU extend a breakout year for Tema. The firm’s Space Innovators ETF (NASA) became the second-fastest thematic ETF to reach $1 billion in assets, achieving the milestone in just 37 trading days. In June, Tema surpassed $5 billion in firmwide assets under management for the first time, just three years after launching its first ETFs.

Important Risk Information

Carefully consider each Fund’s investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses before investing. This and additional information can be found in the Funds’ prospectuses or summary prospectuses, available at www.temaetfs.com/ICOM and www.temaetfs.com/THRU. Read the prospectuses carefully before investing.

Investing involves risk, including possible loss of principal. There is no guarantee that the Funds will achieve their investment objectives or that the adviser’s investment strategies will be successful. Diversification does not ensure a profit or protect against loss. Dividend payments and distributions may fluctuate and are not guaranteed. There is no assurance that an investment in either Fund will provide protection against inflation.

Commodity and Sector Risks: The Funds invest in companies whose businesses are sensitive to commodity markets. Commodity prices can be highly volatile. ICOM’s holdings may be affected by changes in the prices of oil, natural gas, coal, metals and fertilizers. THRU’s holdings may be affected by changes in commodity production, transportation activity and prices. ICOM may have significant exposure to Energy, Materials and Consumer Staples. THRU may have significant exposure to Energy, Industrials, Materials, Utilities and Financials. This sector focus makes the Funds more susceptible to adverse developments affecting those sectors.

Master Limited Partnership Risk: Investments in master limited partnerships (MLPs) involve tax, liquidity and governance risks that differ from investments in corporations. Tax rules limit the Funds’ ability to invest in MLPs.

Foreign Investment Risk: Foreign investments involve additional political, economic, regulatory and currency risks. ICOM may also invest in emerging markets, where these risks can be greater.

ETF Trading Risk: Fund shares are bought and sold at market prices, which may differ from net asset value (NAV), and are not individually redeemable from the Funds. Brokerage commissions and bid-ask spreads may affect investment returns.

Views and expectations are as of the date of this release and may change. Forecasts are not guarantees of future results. There is no assurance that a commodity supercycle will occur or that the Funds will benefit from anticipated market developments.

Key Terms

schedule k-1 financial
A Schedule K-1 is a U.S. tax document that shows an individual owner’s share of a partnership’s, S corporation’s, or trust’s income, losses, deductions and credits. For investors it matters because the numbers on a K-1 determine how much tax you owe and directly affect your after-tax return—think of it as a detailed split-receipt that tells you what portion of a group’s tax bill and benefits belong to you.

master limited partnerships financial
Master limited partnerships are businesses that combine the tax advantages of a partnership with shares that trade on public markets, letting everyday investors buy units and collect regular cash distributions. They often operate in industries with steady, fee-like revenue (for example pipelines), so they can act like owning a rental that pays you income; investors care because MLPs are mainly used for predictable cash returns but can be sensitive to commodity prices and interest rates.
net asset value financial
Net asset value is the total value of an investment fund's assets minus any liabilities, divided by the number of shares or units outstanding. It represents the per-share worth of the fund, similar to how the value of a house is determined by its total worth after debts are subtracted. Investors use it to gauge the true value of their holdings and to compare different investment options.

bid-ask spreads financial
The bid-ask spread is the gap between the highest price someone is willing to pay for a security (the bid) and the lowest price someone will accept to sell it (the ask). Like the difference between what buyers at a garage sale will offer and what sellers want, a wider spread raises the effective cost and difficulty of trading and signals lower demand or higher uncertainty, while a narrow spread means cheaper, easier trades for investors.
