ddr4 technical
DDR4 is a generation of high-speed computer memory used in personal computers, laptops and servers to temporarily hold the data a processor is actively working on — think of it as a short-term workspace that lets devices run programs smoothly. Its prevalence, pricing and compatibility affect demand and upgrade cycles for PCs, servers and components, influencing revenue, margins and product road maps for hardware and chip makers.
ddr5 technical
DDR5 is the latest generation of high-speed volatile memory used as the short-term workspace for computers and servers, like a faster, larger desk where a processor keeps information it’s actively using. It matters to investors because upgrades to DDR5 drive demand across chip makers, computer builders and data-centre operators, affecting sales, pricing power and product cycles; companies that lead in DDR5 production or adoption can gain a competitive and financial edge.
gpu technical
A GPU (graphics processing unit) is a specialized computer chip designed to handle many calculations at once, originally for rendering images and video but now widely used for tasks like artificial intelligence, data analysis and high-performance computing. Investors watch GPU demand and prices because strong sales often signal growth for chip makers and their customers, affect profit margins and capital spending, and can forecast wider trends in gaming, AI adoption and cloud services.
cpu technical
The CPU (central processing unit) is the main chip in a computer or smart device that carries out instructions and runs software—think of it as the device’s brain that does the actual thinking and decision-making. Investors care because a faster, more efficient CPU can make products more competitive and boost sales and margins, while production problems, supply shortages, or falling prices can cut profits for makers and suppliers.

DIAMOND BAR, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Newegg Commerce, Inc. (NASDAQ: NEGG), a global leader in computer and technology products, today announced the expansion of its Trade-In Program to include eligible desktop memory. The new Memory Trade-In Program allows customers to trade in qualifying DDR4 and DDR5 desktop memory kits and receive credit toward the purchase of new memory on Newegg.com.

Newegg Launches Memory Trade-In Program

Newegg Launches Memory Trade-In Program

The expansion builds on the success of Newegg’s GPU Trade-In Program launched in 2023 and the CPU Trade-In Program introduced in 2024, further enhancing Newegg’s ecosystem for upgrading core PC components.

With the addition of memory, customers can now trade in another essential PC component and apply the value toward newer hardware. As system requirements continue to increase for gaming, content creation and professional workloads, upgrading memory capacity and speed is a growing priority for PC users for its ability to provide meaningful performance improvements.

The program is designed to provide a simple and convenient alternative to selling used hardware through secondary marketplaces. Customers can receive an upfront trade-in offer while purchasing their new hardware, then ship their existing component afterward, ensuring they are never without a working system during the upgrade process.

The expansion also comes at a time when many PC components have experienced rising costs due to macroeconomic pressures and supply dynamics. Newegg’s Trade-In Program aims to help customers offset upgrade costs by turning existing hardware into purchasing power for new technology.

“At Newegg, we’re always looking for ways to make upgrading PC hardware easier and more accessible,” said Andrew Choi, Head of Growth Programs at Newegg. “This is especially important in a challenging macro environment where hardware costs have increased. By leveraging our broad catalog of memory products, we’re giving customers a practical way to reduce upgrade costs while still achieving the performance they expect from their systems.”
