Quantum eMotion (QNC) announced that its subsidiary SKV Technology has received a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Notice of Allowance for U.S. patent application No. 18/819,165 covering its SecureKey™ cryptographic technology.

The Notice of Allowance means the application is eligible to proceed toward issuance as a U.S. patent once administrative requirements are completed. SecureKey is designed to manage and protect cryptographic key material during cryptographic operations, with the allowed claims defining the scope of protection sought. Separately, the SecureKey Cryptographic Module is in testing under the FIPS 140-3 cryptographic-module validation framework with an Implementation Under Test (IUT) designation, which does not yet constitute validation or certification and has no assured outcome or timeline.

Analysis

On Sep 23, the day this news came out, the latest delayed price for the stock is 6.3% above the previous close. The 7.44% decline recorded after the July 16 SecureKey IUT announcement is a comparator from the same program; this patent allowance is a separate intellectual-property step, and the article says FIPS 140-3 validation remains incomplete.

Key Terms

4 terms
notice of allowance regulatory
"Notice of Allowance indicates that the USPTO has determined"
A notice of allowance is an official confirmation from a patent office that a patent application has met all necessary requirements and is approved for granting. It signals that the invention is likely to receive legal protection soon, which can be important for investors considering the value and exclusivity of a new product or technology. Think of it as a green light indicating that the invention is on track to become legally protected.
fips 140-3 technical
"validation under the Federal Information Processing Standard Publication 140-3"
A U.S. government standard that sets detailed security requirements for cryptographic modules—software or hardware components that encrypt data and manage keys. Think of it as a rigorous safety inspection for digital locks: passing the test signals that a product meets recognized security practices, which matters to investors because certification can affect a company’s ability to sell to governments and regulated industries, reduce legal and operational risk, and support customer trust.
cryptographic module validation program regulatory
"Cryptographic Module Validation Program ("CMVP")"
A government-backed testing and certification process that checks whether a product's cryptography — the software or hardware that protects data — meets established security standards. Like a safety inspection for locks, this validation gives customers and regulators confidence that the product’s encryption is implemented correctly; for investors it reduces technical and regulatory risk, can broaden market access, and helps protect a company’s reputation and revenue potential.
implementation under test technical
"The module currently has an Implementation Under Test ("IUT") designation."
Implementation under test is the specific version of a system, product, software module, or process that is currently being evaluated by testing procedures. It matters to investors because test results reveal whether that version meets required performance, safety, reliability, or regulatory standards—like test-driving a prototype before mass production—information that can affect development timelines, costs, and a company’s readiness to deliver to the market.

Patent milestone strengthens QeM's intellectual-property portfolio and advances the commercialization of its high-assurance, quantum-resilient cybersecurity platform

Montreal, Quebec--(Newsfile Corp. - September 23, 2026) - Quantum eMotion Corp. (NYSE American: QNC) (TSXV: QNC) (FSE: 34Q0) ("QeM" or the "Company"), a leader in quantum-secure cybersecurity solutions, is pleased to announce that its recently acquired subsidiary, SKV Technology Inc. ("SKV"), has received a Notice of Allowance from the United States Patent and Trademark Office ("USPTO") for U.S. patent application No. 18/819,165 relating to its SecureKey™ technology.

A Notice of Allowance indicates that the USPTO has determined that the patent application is entitled to proceed toward issuance as a U.S. patent, subject to the completion of the applicable administrative requirements.

SecureKey™ is a cryptographic technology designed to manage and protect cryptographic key material during cryptographic operations. The allowed claims and the patent application define the specific scope of the technology for which patent protection is being sought.

Separately, the SecureKey™ Cryptographic Module is undergoing validation under the Federal Information Processing Standard Publication 140-3 ("FIPS 140-3") framework administered through the Cryptographic Module Validation Program ("CMVP") of the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology and the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security.

The module currently has an Implementation Under Test ("IUT") designation. An IUT designation indicates that a cryptographic module has entered testing with an accredited laboratory. It does not constitute FIPS 140-3 validation or certification, and there can be no assurance regarding the outcome or timing of the validation process.

"The Notice of Allowance is an important step in the patent process for the SecureKey technology acquired through SKV," said Dr. Francis Bellido, President and Chief Executive Officer of Quantum eMotion. "In parallel, the SecureKey Cryptographic Module continues through the FIPS 140-3 validation process. These are separate processes: one concerns patent protection, while the other concerns testing against an established cryptographic-module security standard."

Jason Thomas, Director of Product Development at Quantum eMotion and founder of SKV Technology, commented:

"The Notice of Allowance advances the protection of the intellectual property associated with SecureKey. Our current work also includes supporting the SecureKey Cryptographic Module through the FIPS 140-3 testing and validation process."

The Company will provide further information following the formal issuance of the patent or upon material developments in the FIPS 140-3 validation process, as applicable.
