Quantum-Si Demonstrates Detection of 19 Amino Acids in Proteus™ Development Program

The 19-amino-acid capability still needs to be incorporated into a developmental sequencing kit for internal research use.

Sentiment and the balance of points

Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

"through single-molecule protein sequencing"
Single-molecule protein sequencing is a laboratory method that reads the exact order of building blocks in a single protein molecule, similar to reading letters in a word rather than averaging many copies. For investors it matters because it promises far more sensitive and precise detection of disease markers, faster drug discovery and highly personalized diagnostics, which could create new markets or disrupt existing lab testing and therapeutics businesses.

Company is working to deploy 19-amino-acid detection into a developmental sequencing kit and remains confident in demonstrating detection of all 20 amino acids by year-end 2026

BRANFORD, Conn., Oct. 08, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Quantum-Si Incorporated (Nasdaq: QSI) (“Quantum-Si,” “QSI” or the “Company”), a proteomics company redefining protein analysis through single-molecule protein sequencing, today announced that it has demonstrated detection of 19 amino acids in its Proteus™ development program and is now working to deploy that capability into a developmental sequencing kit for routine use on integrated Proteus instruments. Building on the interim Proteus results presented at the 2026 World HUPO Congress, this latest milestone reflects continued progress in the Company’s amino acid recognizer program and reinforces its confidence that detection of all 20 amino acids is well within reach by year-end 2026.

“Demonstrating detection of 19 amino acids is an important step toward our goal of detecting all 20 amino acids by the end of 2026,” said Jeff Hawkins, President and Chief Executive Officer of Quantum-Si. “We are now focused on deploying this capability into a developmental sequencing kit for use by our R&D team. Given the pace of progress in our recognizer program, we are growing increasingly confident in our ability to demonstrate detection of all 20 amino acids by year-end 2026.”

Hawkins continued, “At World HUPO, we demonstrated that Proteus delivered significant improvements across every key measure of sequencing performance using a developmental kit that detects 18 amino acids. Once this 19-amino-acid capability is deployed into a developmental sequencing kit, we expect it to even further increase Proteus sequencing performance. Combined with the significant performance improvements presented at World HUPO, this progress further strengthens our confidence in the continued advancement of the Proteus platform toward commercial launch in the second quarter of 2027.”
