Roblox Unveils AI, Monetization, and Performance Innovations for Creators
Announced at the Roblox Developers Conference (RDC), New Tools and Increased Earning Potential Make it Easier for Developers to Create, Scale, and Thrive on the Platform

CREATE: Empowering Creators and Their Players With AI
“Our goal is for developers to have the opportunity to transform their ideas into growing businesses,” said Nick Tornow, Roblox Senior Vice President of Engineering. “Time and again, we see that when we give our creators powerful tools and opportunities, they create things that inspire us by pushing the boundaries of creative possibility. At Roblox, better tools, including many with AI capabilities, will help creators get from idea to shared reality faster.”
Roblox announced a number of AI updates designed to offer creators artistic freedom, enhanced functionality, and smarter development assistance. The new capabilities help players speak, respond, connect, and even create.
These capabilities include:
- 4D Objects: Building on its strong foundation for 3D creation with Cube 3D, Roblox is advancing generative AI with 4D object creation, where the fourth dimension is interaction. This enables interaction between objects, environments, and people, providing models with built-in functionality, like a car that can be instantly driven and has doors that open. (Limited release coming in Q4.)
- Real-Time Voice Chat Translation: Starting next year, users who speak English, Spanish, French, and German (additional languages to follow) will benefit from real-time voice translation, enabling them to voice chat seamlessly, regardless of language barriers. When players speak, their words will be translated and heard in the listener’s native tongue, fostering a truly interconnected and global community. This builds on the real-time text chat translation Roblox released in February 2024.
- Text-to-Speech API: Now in a limited release, the text-to-speech API can convert text to audio from 10 preset voices. Creators can use the API for live transcription, creating pre-recorded audio snippets, narrator or NPC dialogue, and other voiceover scenarios. Particularly exciting is the use case for non-player characters (or NPCs—characters controlled by the computer rather than by the player) can be brought to life with this API (application programming interface), enabling creators to incorporate narration and character dialogue instantly.
- Speech-to-Text API: This API powers a new level of immersion and accessibility by enabling creators to trigger actions through a user’s voice commands. For example, users will be able to trigger actions with verbal commands, like “Open door” and “Fire the lasers.” Also, the API can be used to caption audio to help with accessibility and audience reach. A limited release will be rolling out by the end of the year.
- Assistant Improvements and MCP: Assistant, which allows creators to use plain language to code, build, texture, and learn, has evolved to become more agentic and context aware. It boosts creators’ productivity by executing complex multistep tasks with a deep understanding of the Roblox environment. Additionally, Assistant will be compatible with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) later this month. This is significant because in addition to operating as an MCP server, Assistant will be able to act as a client and orchestrate work across popular third-party services like Figma and Blockade Labs.
CREATE: Unlocking New Genres
As part of Roblox’s goal to expand into new genres and novel types of gameplay, Roblox announced several advancements in performance and fidelity, including:
- Server Authority: Server authority is a new mode from Roblox with two core benefits—it reduces in-game cheating and makes in-game physics interactions more realistic. This is especially impactful in competitive multiplayer games, like shooters, racing games, and sports, where fairness is key and realism immerses players.
- Avatar Improvements: Roblox is always making improvements to avatars and, at RDC, showcased technology that would allow avatars to have lifelike motion, including running, climbing, and vaulting over obstacles with natural momentum. Roblox is also developing technology to improve avatar fidelity for complex actions like grasping with fingers, helping creators open up more realism in new genres where physicality and context are vital to the gameplay.
- Enhanced Engine Performance: Roblox previewed improvements to its platform’s performance and quality, allowing Roblox to run at the highest fidelity possible across devices without requiring additional effort from creators or sacrificing performance.
SCALE: New Opportunities for Creators to Grow and Engage Audiences
Today, Roblox unveiled powerful new tools and partnerships to provide creators with innovative ways to drive engagement and expand their communities, including:
- (Beta) Roblox Moments: A new short-form video experience for sharing and discovery. Users capture clips of their gameplay, then edit and share those clips in the experience. Coming soon, creators will have a set of creation and discovery APIs that can help attract new audiences and drive stronger engagement and retention. (Moments: now available in beta, restricted to users aged 13+; Moments APIs: coming soon.)
- Partners: As part of its continued investment in the platform, Mattel will be joining Roblox’s recently launched License Manager and Licenses catalog with four iconic IPs—“Polly Pocket,” “Street Sharks,” “Rock ’Em Sock ’Em Robots,” and “Matchbox”—coming soon, unlocking opportunities for creators to build games based on their favorite brands. Japanese global publishing powerhouse Kodansha will also be adding two highly anticipated IP titles to the Licenses catalog today—“Blue Lock” and “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.” You can play “Blue Lock: Rivals” today and become the world’s greatest egoistic striker. In addition, Lionsgate is delivering creators even more IP to build with—“The Strangers,” “Blair Witch,” and “Fall.”
Also today, we announced that we have begun driving traffic through our São Paulo data center ahead of schedule, reducing latency and improving performance for users and creators in the region.
EARN: Increased Earning Potential for Creators
Starting today, Roblox is increasing the DevEx rate, with creators earning
The developer and creator community is truly the heart of Roblox, bringing the platform to life. As Tornow mentioned, “We’re always working on new ways to support developers as they build thriving businesses on our platform, and increasing DevEx is one of the most direct ways we can reward the incredible value creators bring to Roblox.”
