RTX, Tawazun Council, and Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish gallium production capabilities in Abu Dhabi. The initiative would make the UAE the world's second-largest gallium producer, with production facilities at EGA's Al Taweelah alumina refinery. Gallium, a critical mineral found in trace amounts in bauxite, is essential for semiconductors, defense products, electric vehicles, medical devices, and telecom infrastructure.
The agreement includes plans for a feasibility study for a high-purity gallium plant. This strategic partnership aims to secure a reliable supply of gallium for RTX's aerospace and defense solutions while creating an additional revenue stream for EGA and advancing the UAE's industrial growth strategy Operation 300bn.
RTX's Raytheon has successfully completed the first flight test of its PhantomStrike radar in Ontario, California. The next-generation radar system, which successfully tracked airborne targets and mapped terrain, is a fully air-cooled, fire-control radar designed for long-range threat detection. Key features include:
PhantomStrike costs nearly half the price of typical fire control radars while delivering superior capabilities through faster digital beam, advanced target detection, and jamming resistance. Powered by gallium nitride (GaN), the radar weighs approximately half of a modern AESA radar and is compatible with various platforms including uncrewed aircraft, fighter jets, helicopters, and ground-based towers.
Production takes place across facilities in Forest, Mississippi; Tucson, Arizona; and Scotland, with support from Raytheon UK.
RTX's Raytheon division successfully demonstrated its ASTARTE (Air Space Total Awareness for Rapid Tactical Execution) system during Project Convergence Capstone 5. The AI-enabled software system enhances airspace operations and deconfliction in congested battlespaces by integrating with multiple military command and control systems.
During the demonstration, Army and Air Force personnel utilized ASTARTE in a Live, Virtual, Constructive environment to manage dynamic targets using various military assets. The system provided real-time recommendations and automated common operational picture generation, significantly improving decision-making efficiency compared to manual processes.
Since its previous demonstration at Capstone 4, ASTARTE has been enhanced with new capabilities, improved reliability, and the ability to handle larger scenarios, showcasing its adaptability to evolving military requirements.

Collins Aerospace, an RTX business, demonstrated new technology at Project Convergence Capstone 5 that enhances military information gathering and decision-making capabilities. The system successfully integrated data from multiple military and commercial sensors, providing real-time situational awareness to Marines during the exercise.
Working with the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab (MCWL), Collins developed a solution that combines various data sources to deliver a comprehensive battlefield view to the Landing Force Operations Center. This integration enables faster decision-making while making it more difficult for adversaries to track U.S. forces.
The technology demonstration showcases Collins' ability to collect, aggregate, process, and share data across land, air, and sea domains, ensuring mission-critical information reaches commanders efficiently for quick and decisive action.
RTX subsidiary Raytheon has achieved a significant milestone as its Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor (LTAMDS) transitions from prototype to production after receiving the Department of Defense's Major Capability Acquisition Milestone C designation. The system successfully completed eight flight tests, leading to U.S. Army validation and official program of record status.
Raytheon has already delivered the first six LTAMDS units to the U.S. Army under a 2019 contract. The company currently produces eight units annually and plans to increase production to 12 units to meet growing global demand. Two additional radars will be delivered later this year, with ongoing production for both U.S. Army and Poland, the first international customer. Approximately twelve other countries have expressed interest in the LTAMDS system.
Collins Aerospace, an RTX business, has announced Republic Airways as the first airline to implement Ascentia® Repeaters, a new predictive health maintenance platform application. The five-year agreement covers Republic's fleet of over 200 Embraer E-Jet 170 and 175 aircraft.
The Ascentia platform, currently utilized by nearly 1,300 tails, employs natural language processing to automatically resolve coding and text errors in aircraft maintenance logs. The system transforms unstructured maintenance data into organized, actionable intelligence, helping airlines identify chronic issues and correlations.
Key benefits include:
- Automatic identification and classification of common chronic issues
- Improved maintenance efficiency and reduced aircraft downtime
- Proactive prevention of recurring issues
- Enhanced operational reliability
The agreement includes options for capability expansion, including access to Ascentia predictive analytics services.
The V2500® engine has achieved a significant milestone, surpassing 300 million engine flight hours of operational experience. The engine, developed by IAE International Aero Engines AG consortium (including RTX's Pratt & Whitney), currently powers about 2,800 aircraft and serves over 150 operators worldwide.
The V2500 engine demonstrates remarkable durability, with a recent high-time engine completing over 43,000 hours since its April 2013 installation. With an average age of 15 years, the engine continues to serve passenger, cargo, and military missions, powering the Airbus A320ceo family and Embraer C-390 Millennium.
IAE, which celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2023, successfully tested the V2500 on 100% Synthetic Aviation Fuel in 2024. The engine is supported by 13 established maintenance facilities globally, including eight IAE party company facilities, offering enhanced services like life- part solutions and engine swaps.
