According to Sebastien Ramus, VP of Interior Products, the system addresses challenges in onboard service and maintenance scheduling.
Key features include:
- Real-time service updates for passengers
- System performance monitoring
- Integration with smart galley inserts
- Predictive maintenance capabilities
Collins Aerospace, an RTX business, has secured a six-year renewal agreement with Heathrow Airline Operators' Committee (AOC) to continue providing its ARINC cMUSE solution across all four London-Heathrow Airport terminals. The system serves over 80 airlines, enabling dynamic allocation of check-in desks and boarding gates based on real-time demand.
The common-use passenger processing system has been operational at Heathrow since 1999, supporting one of the world's busiest airports which handled 83.9 million passengers in 2024. The airport currently features more than 1,500 common-use workstations, making it Collins' largest CUPPS installation globally.
Over the next five years, Collins and Heathrow AOC will explore new solutions including cloud technology and mobile solutions to support LHR's growth investments. The ARINC cMUSE system can be deployed in the cloud, onsite, or as a hybrid solution, offering scalability and 24/7 global support.
Collins Aerospace, an RTX business, has joined the Digital Alliance for Aviation, an Airbus-led initiative powered by the Skywise platform. The alliance focuses on advancing aviation through collaboration, data transparency, and digital transformation.
Collins will contribute its expertise in predictive maintenance analytics and health monitoring solutions, leveraging data from various aircraft systems including hydraulics, air management, pneumatic, anti-ice, electric power, landing and navigation solutions. The company combines data science with systems engineering expertise to help airlines make data-driven decisions that enhance fleet reliability and reduce operational disruptions.
Collins becomes the fifth member of the Digital Alliance, alongside Airbus, Delta TechOps, GE Aerospace, and Liebherr, working together to provide integrated digital solutions to airlines globally.
Collins Aerospace, an RTX business, has unveiled enhanced SelfServ™ platform, an integrated Common Use Self Service solution at Passenger Terminal Expo in Madrid. The system combines check-in and bag drop functionalities through user-friendly kiosks, with optional SelfPass™ biometric identity integration for seamless airport processing.
The common-use infrastructure allows airlines to share resources, reducing costs and improving space utilization. Airlines can optimize staffing by having one agent oversee multiple kiosks instead of individual desks. Currently, over 100 airlines are certified with the SelfServ platform, which is supported by Collins Aerospace's managed services offerings to help airports manage IT resources effectively.
Collins Aerospace, an RTX business, unveiled innovative aftermarket seating concepts at the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2025 in Hamburg, focusing on upgrading their Pinnacle main cabin seats. The initiative offers three distinct upgrade pathways:
- Pinnacle to Pinnacle Aspire: Replaces arm caps, endbay covers, seat cushions and covers, with options for 10-inch and 11.5-inch IFE screens and tablet holders
- Pinnacle to Pinnacle Aspire+: Includes arm rests, endbays and seat back replacements, plus enhanced IFE screens, USB charging, and bi-fold tray tables
- Pinnacle to Pinnacle MiQ: Transforms triple seats into premium economy configuration for two passengers
The concept aims to extend product life, reduce waste through component reuse, and maximize airline investment while offering customizable amenities and finishes to enhance passenger experience.
RTX's Pratt & Whitney and Delta Air Lines have announced an agreement to expand GTF engine overhaul capacity at Delta TechOps' Atlanta facility. The expansion will increase annual capacity by over 30%, enabling up to 450 engine overhauls per year, making it one of the largest facilities in the GTF MRO network.
Delta TechOps, which joined the GTF MRO network in 2019, services PW1100G-JM and PW1500G engines for Airbus A320neo and A220 aircraft. The facility includes a dedicated 155,000-square-foot GTF engine MRO facility and also provides support for other Pratt & Whitney commercial engines. Currently, Pratt & Whitney powers more than 320 aircraft in Delta's fleet, including over 140 A220s and A321neos.
RTX's Pratt & Whitney and MTU Aero Engines have announced an expansion of their GTF engine maintenance collaboration. MTU's annual capacity will increase to 600 shop visits across all GTF models, establishing it as one of the largest service providers in the Pratt & Whitney GTF MRO network.
The partnership includes multiple facilities: MTU Maintenance Hannover, which completed its 1000th PW1100G-JM engine shop visit and received a five-year extension; EME Aero joint venture, which completed over 500 shop visits and is adding a second test cell; and MTU Maintenance Zhuhai, with its new Jinwan branch expected to handle up to 260 shop visits annually.
MTU serves as a significant partner across the GTF engine family, responsible for key components including the high-speed low-pressure turbine and high-pressure compressor stages. The company also assembles one-third of PW1100G-JM engines for the A320neo.
RTX's Pratt & Whitney has unveiled a groundbreaking additive manufacturing repair solution for GTF engine components, developed at their North American Technology Accelerator in Jupiter, Florida. The new technology will reduce process time by over 60% using Directed Energy Deposition, a 3D printing method.
The innovation is expected to recover $100 million worth of parts over the next five years through implementation across the global GTF MRO network. The solution eliminates several steps in the current repair method, particularly benefiting machine changeover and heat treat cycles reduction.
The project, developed in collaboration with the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology and RTX Research Center, will be scaled throughout their 20-shop MRO network across four continents. Combined with other accelerator programs, Pratt & Whitney expects annual savings of at least $24 million.
Collins Aerospace, an RTX business, has unveiled enhanced features for its Prime wheelchair seating solution at the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg. The improvements, developed through feedback from passengers with reduced mobility (PRM), airlines, and technical advisors, introduce a transformable monument that doubles as a passenger amenity station and crew service area.
The solution includes modern amenities such as a height-adjustable tray table with tablet holder, power outlets, and passenger service unit. Key enhancements ensure emergency egress compliance and accommodate caregivers in adjacent seats. When not serving PRMs, the monument converts to provide crew service space with half-sized trolley cart storage and additional stowage.
The Prime solution, first introduced at AIX 2024, allows electric wheelchair users to remain seated in their wheelchairs during flights, utilizing an industry-standard 'roll on, lock down' tie-down system. The design maintains airline seat count while simplifying boarding and deplaning processes.
RTX's Raytheon division has awarded dual-source contracts to Nammo and Northrop Grumman for the initial phase development of MK72 solid rocket motors. The strategic move aims to expand the supplier base and meet growing global demand for defense systems, particularly the Standard Missile program.
Under these contracts, both suppliers will verify design requirements and specifications, completing a Systems Requirements Review to validate design concepts. The initiative focuses on demonstrating the suppliers' capability to execute requirements and production ramp-up before proceeding with further development and qualification phases.
Barbara Borgonovi, president of Naval Power at Raytheon, emphasized that alongside dual sourcing, the company is increasing supply base oversight and making strategic investments to address constraints and accelerate capability delivery.
