Sentiment and the balance of points

Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

News Explained

As of September 30, SAP had repurchased shares for about €4.2 billion; the €10 billion program amount is a ceiling, not reported spending.

SAP reports that it completed the Dremio and Prior Labs acquisitions on July 6 and July 17, respectively, while its TechWolf acquisition is only under agreement as of October 6; the release does not report that deal as completed.

The release does not state TechWolf’s purchase consideration or closing conditions.

As of September 30, SAP had repurchased 25,205,983 shares for approximately €4.2 billion under its share repurchase program.

That €4.2 billion is reported purchases to date; the program’s €10 billion figure is an “up to” amount, not a report that the full amount has been spent.

5 terms
ifrs financial
"IFRS operating profit up 18%"
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) are a set of common accounting rules used by many companies worldwide to prepare financial statements, so numbers like revenue, profit and assets are measured in the same way across borders. For investors, IFRS matters because it makes it easier to compare the financial health and performance of different companies—like using the same ruler to measure different objects—reducing surprises and helping informed investment decisions.
non-ifrs financial
"non-IFRS operating profit up 18%"
Non-IFRS refers to financial measures that companies report outside the standard accounting rules set by the International Financial Reporting Standards; these figures exclude or adjust certain items such as one-time costs, stock-based pay, or restructuring charges. Investors care because non-IFRS numbers try to show the business’s underlying performance — like a chef presenting a dish with optional toppings removed to highlight the core flavor — but they can be shaped to look more favorable, so compare them with the official IFRS statements.
saas technical
"SaaS/PaaS2 | 6,612 | 5,212"
SaaS, or Software as a Service, is a way of delivering computer programs over the internet, allowing users to access and use them through a web browser without needing to install or maintain the software themselves. For investors, it highlights a business model where companies generate recurring revenue by providing ongoing access to their software, often leading to predictable income and growth potential.
paas technical
"SaaS/PaaS2 | 6,612 | 5,212"
Platform as a Service (PaaS) is a cloud offering that provides developers with ready-made tools, computing power, and hosting so they can build, test, and run software without buying or managing the underlying servers and software stack. For investors, PaaS matters because it can drive predictable subscription revenue, lower customer costs of adoption, and scale rapidly — think of renting a fully equipped kitchen that lets chefs open more restaurants faster without building each kitchen from scratch.
iaas technical
"IaaS2 | 56 | 78"
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is a cloud computing model that lets companies rent computing resources—like servers, storage, and network capacity—on demand instead of owning hardware. For investors, IaaS matters because it enables faster scaling, lower upfront costs, and predictable operating expenses for businesses, which can boost growth potential and margins; think of it as paying to use a utility grid rather than building your own power plant.

Supplementary Information[1]

Financial Results

Cloud revenue growth was positively impacted by several quarter-specific effects, mainly a multi-quarter revenue catch-up from customers returning from financial distress.

Total revenue in the third quarter included a contribution of €49 million from the acquisitions of Reltio, Dremio, and Prior Labs.

IFRS and non-IFRS operating profit included a negative contribution of €59 million and €39 million, respectively, from the aforementioned acquisitions. In addition, IFRS and non-IFRS operating profit growth benefited from prior year negative impacts of €0.1 billion each from a change in case law affecting SAP's other tax litigation and from a workforce transformation, both recorded in the third quarter of 2025.

Share Repurchase Program

In January 2026, SAP announced a new share repurchase program with an aggregate volume of up to €10 billion and a term until December 31, 2027. As of September 30, 2026, SAP had repurchased 25,205,983 shares at an average price of €164.79 resulting in a purchased volume of approximately €4.2 billion under the program.
