Key Terms

esg technical
ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance, which are key factors investors consider when evaluating how sustainable and responsible a company is. It involves assessing how a company manages its impact on the environment, treats its employees and communities, and operates transparently and ethically. Investors use ESG criteria to identify businesses that align with their values and have the potential for long-term success.
limited assurance technical
An engagement where an independent auditor or reviewer provides moderate confidence that financial or non-financial information is free from material misstatement, but stops short of a full audit. Think of it as a focused check or review that uncovers obvious errors but does not involve the deep testing of a full audit. It matters to investors because it signals a lower level of independent verification of reported numbers, helping them judge how much trust to place in the disclosed information.
scope 3 emissions technical
Scope 3 emissions are greenhouse gases produced indirectly by a company’s value chain—everything from the materials it buys and the goods it ships to how customers use or dispose of its products. Think of it as the full “carbon footprint” beyond a company’s own operations; investors watch it because these hidden emissions can signal future regulatory costs, supply-chain risks, reputational exposure, and opportunities for efficiency that affect long‑term profitability.
