scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions inventory technical
A scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions inventory is a comprehensive accounting of all indirect carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions tied to a company's value chain—both upstream (suppliers, purchased goods, transport) and downstream (use of sold products, disposal, leased assets). It matters to investors because these emissions often represent the largest share of a company’s climate impact and can signal future costs, regulatory exposure, supply-chain risks, and reputational issues; think of it as measuring not just your own household energy use but the whole neighborhood connected to you.
tcfd regulatory
A framework that guides companies on reporting how climate change and related policies, physical impacts, and market shifts affect their finances and business plans. It matters to investors because consistent, comparable disclosures act like a weather forecast for financial risk—helping assess which companies face greater climate-related danger or opportunity, improving decisions about value, risk allocation, and long-term planning.
sbti technical
An independent initiative that reviews and approves corporate plans to cut greenhouse gas emissions so they align with science-based limits on global warming. For investors, an SBTi-approved target is like a certified roadmap: it signals a company is measuring its climate risks, setting credible reduction goals, and may be better positioned to avoid future regulatory, physical, or reputational costs tied to climate change.
life cycle assessments technical
A life cycle assessment is a structured review that measures the environmental impacts of a product, service, or process across its entire lifespan — from raw materials and manufacturing through use and final disposal. Like a full health check for a product, it reveals hidden costs, regulatory risks, and resource needs that can affect profitability, compliance and brand value, helping investors compare long-term risks and opportunities.
product carbon footprint technical
A product carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions linked to a product across its whole lifespan—from raw materials and manufacturing to transport, use and disposal—usually shown as a single carbon dioxide-equivalent number. Investors care because this “carbon score” helps reveal hidden costs, regulatory or reputational risks, and demand trends: lower footprints can mean lower future expenses, easier access to green markets, and a more resilient long-term investment.
