Key Terms

smart materials technical
Materials that change their behavior or properties in response to their environment—for example altering shape, stiffness, color, conductivity, or temperature when exposed to heat, light, pressure, or electricity. Think of them as building blocks that act like tiny sensors or switches, enabling products to adapt or perform new functions. Investors care because these materials can unlock new product lines, improve performance or lower costs, create competitive advantages, and drive licensing or manufacturing opportunities.
digital construction technologies technical
Digital construction technologies are tools and systems—software, sensors, drones, 3D scanners, prefabrication robotics and cloud platforms—that let builders plan, monitor and control projects digitally, replacing paper plans with a live, shared map. Investors care because these technologies can speed schedules, cut material waste and surprises, improve safety and predictability, and enable ongoing services based on collected data, all of which affect project costs, profit margins and long-term competitiveness.
artificial intelligence technical
Artificial intelligence is the ability of computers and machines to perform tasks that typically require human thinking, such as understanding language, recognizing patterns, or making decisions. For investors, it matters because AI can enhance efficiency, uncover new insights, and enable smarter strategies, potentially impacting the value and performance of companies that develop or utilize this technology.

New strategic center advances smart materials, digital construction technologies, and resilient infrastructure

MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Titan America SA (NYSE: TTAM) today announced the launch of the Titan America Innovation Hub, a collaborative center designed to accelerate the development and scale-up of advanced materials, digital technologies, and construction solutions that enable resilient communities and long-term economic growth.

Located in South Florida — one of the nation’s most dynamic construction and technology markets — the Titan America Innovation Hub brings together customers, suppliers, universities, startups, and public agencies with Titan America experts to address the evolving demands of modern construction.

The launch represents a key milestone in Titan America’s broader innovation strategy and builds on its commitment to develop, pilot, and scale next-generation technologies across its operations.

“Construction is being reshaped by urbanization, digitalization, resilience, and advances in material science,” said Bill Zarkalis, President and Chief Executive Officer of Titan America. “The Titan America Innovation Hub expands our ability to collaborate internally and externally to accelerate solutions that improve the performance, productivity, and sustainability of construction for the cities of the future.”

The Innovation Hub focuses on solutions aligned with major construction megatrends:

  • Smart Materials, including advanced cement and concrete products that enhance performance and productivity while reducing environmental impact
  • Circularity, expanding use of recycled materials that are engineered into high performance fuel and feedstocks
  • Resilient Urbanization, enabling better ways to build durable infrastructure, coastal protection, and disaster-resistant buildings
  • Construction Technologies, advancing the jobsite of the future with digital tools and state-of-the-art construction methods

The Innovation Hub features collaborative workspaces and demonstration environments for engaging with Titan America’s latest innovations — from digitalized concrete delivery and artificial intelligence manufacturing systems to proprietary concrete data centers, advanced manufacturing facilities, and marine applications.

South Florida’s sustained population growth, global connectivity, and research institutions make it a natural location for piloting scalable construction solutions. Builders across the region are navigating complex demands— creating a real-world proving ground for next-generation technologies.

“Society is asking more from construction — faster delivery, greater resilience, and better use of resources,” said Eric Koehler, Titan America Vice President of Innovation and Product Quality. “Our innovation operating model combines internal expertise with external partnerships to transform ideas into solutions that create value for customers and communities.”

“We are thrilled that Titan America chose Miami for its innovation hub,” says Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “Titan has been an active partner in South Florida’s Risk and Resilience Tech Hub, which leverages South Florida’s entrepreneurial ecosystem for launching globally scalable technologies that improve resilience. Titan’s South Florida investments and its resilient product line of building materials demonstrate innovation that fits this concept perfectly.”

The grand opening welcomed industry leaders, customers, public officials, academic partners, and regional stakeholders to interact with Titan America leadership, explore Titan America’s innovations, and discuss the future of construction.
