Insights
Turbo Energy's SUNBOX technology enables Uber's fleet electrification by cleverly overcoming grid limitations with AI-controlled storage systems.
Turbo Energy's agreement with Uber represents a significant technological solution to one of the most challenging bottlenecks in fleet electrification: limited grid capacity. The company's SUNBOX Industry system effectively tripled the charging capacity at Uber's Spanish facility without requiring costly grid upgrades.
The technical specifications are impressive - a 1 MW / 2 MWh smart storage hub that expands a 600 kW grid connection to support 1.6 MW of charging power. This enables charging for over 300 vehicles at a location where the grid infrastructure would normally support only a fraction of that capacity.
What makes this system particularly valuable is its AI-controlled management capabilities that dynamically allocate power resources based on real-time conditions. This intelligence layer ensures the system can maximize charging efficiency while preventing grid overloads - a crucial feature for sustainable scaling of EV infrastructure.
The technology addresses a critical pain point in transportation electrification - the mismatch between growing EV adoption and aging grid infrastructure. By providing a scalable, modular solution that can be deployed without waiting for grid upgrades, Turbo Energy is positioning itself at the intersection of renewable energy storage and electric mobility markets.
This project establishes an important proof of concept for Turbo Energy's technology in high-demand commercial applications, potentially opening doors to similar implementations across Uber's global operations and other fleet operators facing identical infrastructure constraints.
VALENCIA, Spain, Sept. 10, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Turbo Energy S.A. (Nasdaq: TURB) (“Turbo Energy” or the “Company”), a global provider of leading-edge, AI-optimized solar energy storage technologies and solutions, today announced the signing of a flagship agreement providing for Turbo Energy to power Uber’s electric vehicle (“EV”) fleet in Spain.
At the heart of the project is Turbo Energy’s proprietary, patent-pending SUNBOX Industry system, an innovative energy storage solution. SUNBOX Industry not only enables large-scale charging but also offers unique functionalities for projects with limited power availability, helping fleets overcome grid constraints that often slow the adoption of electric mobility.
To power 10 high-capacity charging points for Uber, SUNBOX Industry systems were installed to create a 1 MW / 2 MWh smart storage hub, unlocking the ability to charge over 300 vehicles even though the site’s grid connection could only supply 600 Kw, covering a third of the power needed to run all the chargers. By adding 1,000 kW of flexible storage capacity, SUNBOX Industry expanded total available power to 1.6 MW — ensuring seamless charging without overloading the grid. With built-in AI control, SUNBOX Industry automatically adjusts charging power based on grid supply and battery status, guaranteeing uninterrupted operation and avoiding costly downtime. This capability makes SUNBOX Industry an ideal solution for companies looking to electrify fleets in areas where grid capacity is limited.
