Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

  1. Mortgage Servicing Rights Valuation adjustment - With the rise in long-term mortgage interest rates during the year, the fair market valuation of our MSRs increased $9.4 million, $4.2 million and $1.1 million at 3Q2026, 2Q2026 and 1Q2026, respectively.

Major business developments and growth continued during 3Q2026:

  • On September 29, 2026, UNIB closed a $25,000,000 private placement of Fixed-to-Floating Rate Subordinated Notes due 2036. The Notes carry a fixed rate of interest of 8.125% for the first five years, and thereafter will pay interest at a floating rate, reset quarterly, equal to the then current three-month SOFR plus 355 basis points. The Notes may be redeemed at the option of UNIB, without penalty, in whole or in part, beginning on October 30, 2031. UNIB has also entered into a $25,000,000 5-year forward interest rate swap agreement at 4.70% which effectively fixes the interest rate for the second five years of the term at 8.25% The proceeds were used to redeem all but $711,000 of the $19,465,298.04 in Notes issued as part of the July 1, 2026 acquisition of Greater Pacific Bancshares and Bank of Whittier, N.A. (BOW), and to pay down the outstanding amounts on UNIB's line of credit. The remaining outstanding Notes issued in the BOW acquisition have a weighted average interest rate of 7.80%.
  • On September 16, 2026, UNIB announced that it had formed a strategic alliance with a profitable and rapidly growing FinTech firm (the "FinTech"), a nationwide leader in purpose-built electronic payments serving a $1.5 trillion domestic market vertical, in support of the launch of an OND-based Payments Hub at University Bank. The FinTech will be the pilot customer of the Payments Hub. UNIB invested a total of $2.2 million in equity of the FinTech firm. More information about this transaction and the OND-based Payments Hub at University Bank is available here: https://www.otcmarkets.com/stock/UNIB/news/University-Bancorp-Announces-Initial-Pilot-FinTech-Customer-for-Its-Revolutionary-OND-Based-Payments-Hub?id=535421.
  • On July 1, 2026, UNIB acquired 100% of Greater Pacific Bancshares and Bank of Whittier, NA. (BOW) for a purchase price of $37.2 million of which 48% was paid in cash and the remainder paid in Notes. This acquisition provides many opportunities to expand our ability to provide faith-based financing (home, commercial real estate, vehicle) and deposits (FDIC-insured time, savings, checking and tax advantaged IRA deposit accounts) in the United States. UNIB anticipates that the transaction will be accretive to earnings per share over time. After the acquisition, 25 tasks including all of the key actions required to improve the profitability and financial metrics of Bank of Whittier on an ongoing basis were completed, including:
    • Purchase of a portfolio of about $42 million of residential loans from UIF to reduce Fed Funds investments;
    • Approval of the transfer of BOW's residential servicing to Midwest Loan Services, a division of University Bank, effective November 1st, which will achieve significant economies of scale;
    • Approval of the payment of an $11 million special dividend by BOW to UNIB, which will reduce BOW's Tier 1 Capital to $17.5 million;
    • Completion of a third-party stress test, which indicates that additional loan losses of $3.7 million would be incurred in a depressionary economic scenario using the CCARS stress test assumptions, leaving Bank of Whittier well capitalized at $17.0 million of Tier 1 Capital and a 9.9% Tier 1 Capital Ratio, even after payment of the $11 million special dividend.

Management currently projects net income at Bank of Whittier in the 4th quarter of $570,000, an annualized run rate of $2,275,000, even after taking into account a $30,755 per month Core Deposit Intangible Amortization expense which arose from GAAP purchase accounting. This amortization expense roughly halves starting July 1, 2027 and decreases over time, ending on the sixth anniversary of the acquisition. Additional future earnings upside exists as certain ongoing integration projects complete and a $20,000,000 investment portfolio of bank CDs is reinvested into portfolio loans at higher profit rates as it matures over the next 12 months.
