3 terms
asset-based revolving credit facility financial
"a $900 million asset-based revolving credit facility"
A loan arrangement where a lender agrees to make funds available up to a set limit that a borrower can draw, repay, and draw again, with the amount available tied to the value of specific assets (like inventory, receivables, or equipment) pledged as collateral. It matters to investors because it provides flexible working capital while limiting risk exposure: the company can fund growth or cover shortfalls quickly, but borrowing capacity can shrink if asset values fall.
first-in, last-out financial
"a $375 million first-in, last-out term loan ("FILO") facility"
A method that treats the oldest items added as the ones removed last and the newest items as removed first; functionally it is the same ordering as LIFO (last-in, first-out). In accounting or inventory contexts, it is an assumption about which units are considered sold or used first and therefore affects which purchase costs flow to cost of goods sold versus remaining inventory; in other operational contexts it describes a stack-style processing order where the most recently received entry is handled before earlier ones. Not all reporting frameworks or tax systems permit using this assumption for official financial statements, so its application may be limited by rules or contracts.
senior secured credit facilities financial
"closing of $1.275 billion in new senior secured credit facilities"
Senior secured credit facilities are loans or lines of credit that a company borrows where lenders have first claim on specified assets if the company cannot pay back its debts. Think of it like a mortgage on a house: the bank holds the deed (collateral) and gets paid before other creditors, which usually makes the loan cheaper for the borrower. Investors watch these arrangements because they affect a company’s cost of borrowing, financial risk, and how available assets are prioritized if the company faces financial trouble.
