decentralized mobile connectivity platformtechnical
A decentralized mobile connectivity platform is a system that lets devices connect to cellular or wireless networks without relying on a single company to operate the whole network; instead, many independent nodes or providers share infrastructure and management, similar to neighbors pooling Wi‑Fi or a community mesh. Investors care because this model can cut costs, speed expansion, and create new revenue streams but also brings adoption, security and regulatory risks that affect potential returns.
carrier offloadtechnical
Carrier offload is when a mobile network shifts customer voice or data traffic from its own wireless network onto another network—often Wi‑Fi, small cells, or third‑party infrastructure—to reduce congestion and improve service. For investors, offload affects a carrier’s cost and capacity: it can lower operating expenses and delay expensive upgrades, but it may also shift revenue and create opportunities for equipment providers and network partners, similar to a highway diverting cars onto side roads to ease traffic.
passpoint roamingtechnical
Passpoint roaming is a technology that lets a device automatically and securely connect to participating public Wi‑Fi networks without manual login, using pre-established trust between network operators. For investors, it matters because widespread Passpoint adoption can reduce mobile data costs, improve user experience, and create revenue or partnership opportunities for carriers, hotspot operators and equipment vendors—think of it as automated roaming for Wi‑Fi that can shift traffic and margins between players.
das (distributed antenna system)technical
A distributed antenna system (DAS) is a network of small radio antennas placed around a building or area to boost cellular and wireless signals, like installing many speakers around a stadium so everyone can hear clearly. Investors care because DAS improves service quality and capacity where coverage is weak, which can drive higher customer satisfaction, additional revenue from carriers or venue leases, and influence costs and value of telecom and real estate assets.
neutral-host connectivity modeltechnical
A neutral-host connectivity model is a shared communications network run by an independent operator that provides wireless or broadband access to multiple service providers and enterprises from the same infrastructure. For investors it matters because it can lower costs, speed up rollout of coverage (like a single landlord wiring an apartment building once instead of each tenant installing separate systems), and change revenue mix and competitive dynamics by turning network access into a service rather than a proprietary advantage.
IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
XNET, the decentralized mobile connectivity platform enabling seamless carrier offload through secure Passpoint roaming, today announced Stephen John has joined its Board of Advisors.
Stephen brings more than two decades of leadership in carrier partnerships, mobility strategy, and enterprise wireless solutions. He previously served as CEO of Westell Technologies (NASDAQ: WSTL) a company whose core business centered on indoor wireless and DAS (Distributed Antenna System) solutions where he reorganized the company into focused business units, executed strategic M&A, and drove product stability and growth.
His background in improving indoor mobile performance and working closely with carriers and infrastructure providers makes him uniquely aligned with XNET’s mission.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Stephen,” said James Childs, CEO of XNET. “His background in forging major carrier relationships and scaling wireless solutions aligns perfectly with where XNET is headed in 2026.”
In his advisory role, Stephen will support XNET in strengthening mobile carrier integrations, accelerating enterprise adoption, and advancing the company’s neutral-host connectivity model with partners such as Cambium Networks.
“XNET is solving a real, measurable problem in mobile performance,” said Stephen John. “The ability to offload traffic automatically without passwords or friction is exactly where the industry is going. I’m excited to support the team as they scale.”
XNET is building the world’s first decentralized neutral-host connectivity network. By enabling secure, automatic cellular offload onto existing WiFi infrastructure, XNET delivers carrier-grade performance for ISPs, enterprises, venues, and spectrum owners—while opening new revenue opportunities tied to real, validated data usage. XNET is based in Irvine, CA.
