WisdomTree (NYSE: WT) announced the rebranding of its PutWrite Strategy Fund (PUTW) to the WisdomTree Equity Premium Income Fund (WTPI). The fund, which maintains its NYSE Arca listing and 0.44% expense ratio, tracks the Volos U.S. Large Cap Target 2.5% PutWrite Index.
WTPI employs a strategy of selling bi-weekly put options on the S&P 500 Index, targeting a 2.5% premium to generate consistent income. The fund is positioned as an attractive option for income-seeking investors in the current market environment, particularly given elevated market valuations and policy-related uncertainties affecting S&P 500 expectations for 2025.
The fund is designed to potentially outperform traditional equity strategies in flat-to-down markets by capitalizing on volatility premium in the options market. However, investors should note that the fund's returns are to option premiums received, while potential losses could extend to the entire strike price of sold options.
