Key Terms

fiber-to-the-home technical
Fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) is a type of internet connection that uses thin strands of glass or plastic to deliver high-speed data directly to a residence. It is similar to replacing traditional phone or cable wires with a faster, more reliable pipeline for online activities. For investors, FTTH represents a key infrastructure that can enhance internet quality and support the growth of digital services, making it an important area of development in telecommunications.
latency technical
Latency is the time delay between when information or an instruction is created and when it is received, processed, or acted on by a market system or data feed. For investors, that delay can alter the price you receive, cause missed trading opportunities, or increase execution risk — like sending a text to buy an item and the seller acting a few seconds later after the price has changed.
multi-server latency technical
Multi-server latency is the total delay users experience when data or requests must pass through several computers (servers) before a system responds, like a message being handed off along a relay race rather than delivered directly. It matters to investors because higher or unpredictable delays can reduce user satisfaction, weigh on transaction volume or subscription renewals, increase costs for scaling or fixes, and signal operational or reliability risks that can affect revenue and reputation.
net promoter score technical
Net Promoter Score (NPS) is a single-number measure of customer loyalty based on asking customers how likely they are to recommend a company’s product or service to others; responses are grouped and converted to a score from -100 to +100. It matters to investors because a high NPS suggests strong customer satisfaction, lower churn and more organic growth through word-of-mouth—like a reputation score that can predict future sales and brand resilience.
wifi 7 technical
WiFi 7 is the next-generation wireless networking standard that delivers much higher speeds, lower delays, and the ability to support many devices at once—think of it as a wider, faster highway that lets more cars travel smoothly without traffic jams. For investors, it matters because widespread adoption can drive demand for upgraded consumer gadgets, routers, network gear and services, shaping revenue and competition across chipmakers, telecoms and infrastructure suppliers.
speedtest intelligence technical
Speedtest intelligence is a system that measures and analyzes the speed and reliability of internet connections across different locations. For investors, it provides insight into the quality and growth of internet infrastructure, which can influence technology companies' performance and the overall digital economy. This data helps assess how well internet services are evolving to meet increasing demand.

Wins across 10 states, including top results in download speed, upload speed and latency

THE WOODLANDS, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Fidium today announced that its 100% fiber-to-the-home network earned more than 250 top performance rankings in Ookla’s analysis of Q3-Q4 2025 Speedtest Intelligence® data. The results reflect consumer-initiated testing across 10 states and highlight strong performance in download speed, upload speed and latency.

The data shows Fidium outperforming cable and fixed-wireless providers in markets across New England, Texas, Illinois, Minnesota, California and other areas where its fiber network has expanded.

Fidium's Performance Rankings include*:

  • 250+ markets with wins across 10 states (New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Pennsylvania, New York, Florida, Illinois, Minnesota and California)
  • 215 wins for lowest median multi-server latency
  • 171 wins for fastest upload speeds
  • 28 markets where Fidium ranked first in download speed, upload speed and latency
  • 10 wins for best consistency
  • Two statewide awards in New Hampshire for lowest latency and fastest upload speeds

In 41 markets, Fidium delivered single-digit median latency – a benchmark associated with high-performance gaming, real-time video collaboration and other latency-sensitive applications.

“For years, the industry focused almost entirely on download speeds,” said Dan Sumner, chief marketing officer for Fidium. “But households and businesses today depend just as much on strong upload performance and low latency for streaming, gaming, video calls and home security. This data reflects Fidium’s real-world impact for our customers and showcases the performance advantages of a 100% fiber-to-the-home network.”

Why Network Architecture Matters

Video conferencing, cloud-based work, streaming, connected home devices and online gaming all rely on consistent upload speeds and low latency, not just fast downloads.

Even upgraded cable networks continue to rely on legacy copper infrastructure for the final connection into the home. Fidium’s network is fiber all the way to the premises, enabling symmetrical speeds and more consistent performance, particularly during peak usage times.

In communities including Wiscasset, Maine, and Barre, Vermont, Fidium’s median upload speeds were more than 25 times faster than the nearest cable competitor, according to the Ookla analysis.

“Our network is the foundation of every customer experience we deliver,” said Gabe Waggoner, chief network officer for Fidium. “With more than $1.9 billion invested in fiber since 2020 and nearly 70% of our footprint served by fiber infrastructure in 2026, we’re able to provide the speed, reliability and performance our customers count on every day.”

Established Leader in New England, Growing Leadership Nationally

Fidium continues to post particularly strong results across northern New England, securing 364 total wins across Maine (150), New Hampshire (152) and Vermont (62).

At the same time, the Q3-Q4 2025 data reflects Fidium’s expanding performance leadership in markets such as California, Illinois, Minnesota and Texas as the company grows its fiber footprint.

Performance and Transparency

The Ookla results build on a year of momentum for Fidium, including:

“All of Fidium’s fiber internet plans run on our 100% fiber network, with no data caps, no hidden fees and no long-term contracts,” said Sumner. “Customers can feel the difference in both performance and simplicity.”

Fidium currently offers up to 2 Gig symmetrical speeds on its 100% fiber network, with new multi-gig tiers of up to 8 Gig with WiFi 7 beginning to roll out in April in select markets. For more information or to check availability, visit FidiumFiber.com.
