MARKET LEADERS

How to read this ranking

52-Week Gain is the column the table is ordered by: the percentage change from the split-adjusted close one year ago to the latest close. Because the prices are split-adjusted, a split inside the window contributes nothing to the figure, and a company that split three-for-one shows the return its holders actually earned rather than a two-thirds fall.

Market Cap and Price describe the company today, not a year ago, so the two cannot be combined into a starting price. A row near the top of this board is usually small: a gain of several hundred percent takes far less buying on a company worth tens of millions than on one worth billions, which is why the largest gains and the largest companies rarely appear in the same rows.

The board admits companies above $100 million in market capitalization listed on NYSE, Nasdaq and NYSE American, and nothing else: no liquidity test, no price minimum. A company needs a close a full year back to be measured at all, which is why a recent listing is absent here while it appears on the year-to-date board. Country and Sector come from each company's own record and are what to check first when a symbol near the top is unfamiliar.

Gains are computed on split-adjusted closes, so a split inside the window does not read as a move. This ranking is informational and is not investment advice.
