Insights

S&P cuts Braskem’s outlook to Negative at B+, raising credit risk.

Braskem discloses that S&P Global Ratings now assigns it a B+ global corporate credit rating with a Negative Outlook

The company links this situation to a prolonged downturn in the petrochemical industry cycle, which can pressure margins and cash generation. In response, management highlights “resilience initiatives” aimed at mitigating these effects and improving the competitiveness of the Brazilian chemical industry, though no specific measures or targets are detailed in this notice.

For investors and creditors, the key implication is that an already weak credit profile now carries a negative bias from a major rating agency. Future company disclosures on these resilience initiatives and any changes in industry conditions will be important for understanding whether this outlook may stabilize or deteriorate further.
