How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

Net interest margin financial
"net interest margin as a percentage of earning assets"
Net interest margin measures how much a bank earns from lending and investing compared with what it pays for funding, expressed as a percentage of its interest-earning assets. Think of it like a grocery store’s markup: it shows the gap between buying cost and selling price per dollar of goods — here, the cost is interest paid and the sale is interest received. Investors watch it because a higher margin usually means a bank is more profitable and better at managing interest rate and credit conditions.
Allowance for credit losses financial
"Allowance for credit losses (ACL) on loans"
Allowance for credit losses is a reserve set aside by a financial institution to cover potential losses from borrowers who may not repay their loans. It acts like a safety net, helping the institution prepare for loans that might turn sour. For investors, it signals how cautious the institution is about the quality of its loans and potential risks to its financial health.
Non-performing assets financial
"Total non-performing assets"
Loans or other credit exposures that are not producing expected income because borrowers have stopped making scheduled payments for a significant period (commonly around 90 days). Think of it like a business lending money that has gone quiet — the cash flow stops while the lender still carries the debt on its books. High levels of non-performing assets matter to investors because they reduce a lender’s earnings, tie up capital that could be used for growth, and signal higher risk of future losses.

Net Interest Income
Net interest income of $290 million for the current quarter increased $13.5 million, or 5 percent, from the prior quarter net interest income of $276 million and increased $64.5 million, or 29 percent, from the prior year third quarter net interest income of $225 million. The current quarter interest income of $380 million increased $14.8 million, or 4 percent, over the prior quarter and increased $55.0 million, or 17 percent, over the prior year third quarter and was primarily driven by both increased loans and increased interest rates on the loan portfolio. The loan yield of 6.22 percent in the current quarter increased 10 basis points from the prior quarter loan yield of 6.12 percent and increased 25 basis points from the prior year third quarter loan yield of 5.97 percent.

The current quarter interest expense of $90.1 million increased $1.3 million, or 1 percent, from the prior quarter. Interest expense decreased $9.5 million, or 10 percent, from the prior year third quarter primarily due to a decrease in interest rates on deposits and a decrease in high cost borrowings. Core deposit cost (including non-interest bearing deposits) decreased to 1.17 percent in the current quarter compared to 1.18 percent in the prior quarter and 1.23 percent in the prior year third quarter. The total funding cost (including non-interest bearing deposits) decreased to 1.32 percent in the current quarter compared to 1.33 percent in the prior quarter and 1.58 percent in the prior year third quarter.

The net interest margin as a percentage of earning assets, on a tax-equivalent basis, for the current quarter was 4.01 percent, an increase of 11 basis points from the prior quarter net interest margin of 3.90 percent and was primarily driven by an increase in earning asset yields and a decrease in deposit costs. The net interest margin as a percentage of earning assets, on a tax-equivalent basis, for the current quarter increased 62 basis points from the prior year third quarter net interest margin of 3.39 percent and was primarily driven by the increase in

Core net interest margin was 3.95 percent in the current quarter compared to 3.86 percent in the prior quarter and 3.35 percent in the prior year third quarter. “The increase in both the net interest income and net interest margin during the current quarter reflects the continued increase in earning assets at higher yields combined with the increase in core deposits at lower costs (including non-interest bearing deposits),” said Ron Copher, Chief Financial Officer. “Over the last eleven consecutive quarters, net interest income has increased from $166 million to $290 million, or 75 percent, with the net interest margin increasing from 2.56 percent to 4.01 percent, or 57 percent.”

Non-interest Income
Non-interest income for the current quarter totaled $39.9 million, which was a decrease of $1.2 million, or 3 percent, over the prior quarter. Non-interest income increased $4.6 million, or 13 percent, over the prior year third quarter. Deposit service charges and other fees of $17.2 million for the current quarter increased $836 thousand, or 5 percent, compared to the prior quarter and increased $2.5 million, or 17 percent, from the prior year third quarter. Net Interest Income
Net interest income of $835 million for the first nine months of 2026 increased $212 million, or 34 percent, from the first nine months of the prior year and was primarily driven by increased interest income and decreased interest expense. Interest income of $1.108 billion for the first nine months of 2026 increased $184 million, or 20 percent, from the prior year and was primarily attributable to the increase in the loan portfolio and an increase in loan yields. The loan yield was 6.17 percent during the first nine months of 2026, an increase of 30 basis points from the prior year first nine months loan yield of 5.87 percent.

Interest expense of $273 million for the first nine months of 2026 decreased $27.5 million, or 9 percent, over the same period in the prior year and was primarily the result of lower interest rates on deposits and a decrease in higher cost borrowings. Core deposit cost (including non-interest bearing deposits) was 1.18 percent for the first nine months of 2026, which was a decrease of 6 basis points over the first nine months of the prior year

The effective tax rate for the first nine months of 2026 was 20.4 percent compared to 18.1 percent for the same period in the prior year. The increases in tax expense and the effective tax rate were primarily the result of an increase in the pre-tax income.

Efficiency Ratio
The efficiency ratio was 58.51 percent for the first nine months of 2026 compared to 63.12 percent for the same period of 2025. The decrease from the prior year was primarily attributable to the increase in net interest income that outpaced the increase in non-interest expense.
