How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

net interest margin financial
"Annualized net interest margin was 4.17%"
Net interest margin measures how much a bank earns from lending and investing compared with what it pays for funding, expressed as a percentage of its interest-earning assets. Think of it like a grocery store’s markup: it shows the gap between buying cost and selling price per dollar of goods — here, the cost is interest paid and the sale is interest received. Investors watch it because a higher margin usually means a bank is more profitable and better at managing interest rate and credit conditions.
provision for credit losses financial
"recorded a $290,000 provision for credit losses"
Provision for credit losses is an amount set aside by a financial institution to cover potential future losses from borrowers who may not repay their loans. It acts like a safety net, helping the institution manage risks and stay financially healthy. For investors, it signals how cautious a lender is about potential loan defaults and can impact the company's profitability and financial stability.
non-performing assets financial
"Non-performing assets as a percent of total assets"
Loans or other credit exposures that are not producing expected income because borrowers have stopped making scheduled payments for a significant period (commonly around 90 days). Think of it like a business lending money that has gone quiet — the cash flow stops while the lender still carries the debt on its books. High levels of non-performing assets matter to investors because they reduce a lender’s earnings, tie up capital that could be used for growth, and signal higher risk of future losses.
efficiency ratio financial
"Efficiency ratio improved to 60.95%"
A measure of how much a company spends to produce each dollar of revenue, usually shown as operating expenses divided by revenue and expressed as a percentage. Think of it as a household’s budget: a lower percentage means more of each dollar earned stays as profit, while a higher number means costs are eating into returns. Investors use it to judge cost control and compare how efficiently companies turn revenue into earnings, especially in banks and financial firms.
Tier 1 Leverage ratio financial
"Tier 1 Leverage ratio of 17.56%"
Tier 1 leverage ratio measures a bank’s core capital — the money that can absorb losses — as a share of its total assets, showing how much of its balance sheet is funded by real loss-absorbing capital rather than borrowed money. Investors use it like a safety gauge: a higher ratio means a bigger cushion against shocks and lower risk of insolvency, similar to how a thicker spare tire reduces the chance of being stranded.
Third-quarter net income $2.314 million Down 1.9% year over year
Nine-month net income $6.409 million Up 20.1% year over year
Third-quarter net interest income $7.141 million Up 12.4% year over year

Lake Shore Bancorp, Inc. Announces

Third Quarter 2026 Financial Results

DUNKIRK, N.Y. — October 21, 2026 — Lake Shore Bancorp, Inc. (the “Company”) (NASDAQ: LSBK), the holding company for Lake Shore Bank (the “Bank”), reported unaudited net income of $2.3 million, or $0.31 per diluted share, for the third quarter of 2026 compared to net income of $2.4 million, or $0.32 per diluted share, for the third quarter of 2025. Higher net interest income benefited third-quarter and nine-month 2026 results, partly offset by a higher provision for credit losses. The modest year-over-year decline in third-quarter net income and diluted earnings per share primarily was attributed to two one-time, nonrecurring, non-interest income events recognized in third-quarter 2025.

"I am pleased with our third quarter results and our continued focus on core banking operations, expanding net interest margin, and disciplined expense management,” said Kim C. Liddell, President and CEO. “We aim to build on this momentum while preserving a strong capital position and supporting our customers, communities, and stockholders."

Non-performing assets as a percent of total assets increased to 0.24% at September 30, 2026 as compared to 0.23% at December 31, 2025, primarily due to an increase in non-performing assets of $82,000, or 4.9%. The Company’s allowance for credit losses on loans as a percent of loans at amortized cost was 0.91% and 0.87% and its allowance for credit losses on loans as a percent of non-performing loans was 307.93% and 290.71% at September 30, 2026 and December 31, 2025, respectively.

The Company recorded a $290,000 provision for credit losses during the third quarter of 2026 and recorded a provision for credit losses of $296,000 for the first nine months of 2026. Of the amount recorded for the third quarter of 2026, $505,000 related to a provision recorded to the allowance for credit losses on the loan portfolio, net of charge-offs and recoveries, which was partially offset by a $231,000 credit to the provision recorded to the allowance for credit losses on unfunded commitments. For the first nine months of 2026, $367,000 related to a provision recorded to the allowance for credit losses for the loan portfolio, net of charge-offs and recoveries, which was partially offset by a $97,000 credit recorded to the allowance for credit losses for unfunded commitments. The increase in the allowance for credit losses on the loan portfolio was primarily related to an increase in the calculated reserve rates, largely due to changes to the qualitative factor loss rates. The qualitative factor related to industry concentration increased the reserve rate for the commercial real estate and commercial

loan pools, while the qualitative factor related to adversely classified loans increased the reserve rate for the residential mortgage loan pool.

Balance Sheet Summary

Securities available for sale were $48.2 million at September 30, 2026 as compared to $56.1 million at December 31, 2025, representing a decrease primarily due to the market value of the portfolio as well as paydowns received during the first nine months of 2026. Net loans receivable at September 30, 2026 and December 31, 2025 were $574.1 million and $555.4 million, respectively. Total deposits at September 30, 2026 and December 31, 2025 were $580.3 million and $573.3 million, respectively. The decrease in stockholders’ equity was primarily attributed to an increase in accumulated other comprehensive loss of $3.3 million, dividends declared and paid of $2.0 million during the first nine months of 2026, and share repurchases of $1.9 million, partially offset by net income of $6.4 million.
