Rhea-AI Filing Summary

New Pacific Metals Corp. (NEWP) reports that Administrative Mining Contracts (AMCs) have been signed for its Carangas Silver-Gold Project in the Oruro Department of Bolivia, converting existing Prospecting and Exploration Licences into a long-term administrative mining framework.

The AMCs cover approximately 39 km², carry a 30-year fixed term, and were signed with Bolivia’s Autoridad Jurisdiccional Administrativa Minera on August 21, 2026. They are described as an important milestone that further de-risks the Carangas Project’s permitting pathway. The contracts will now be submitted to the Plurinational Legislative Assembly of Bolivia for ratification and approval, after which the company expects to advance remaining permitting and technical work, including environmental categorization and an Environmental Impact Assessment.

New Pacific also plans to start the 2026 Carangas drill program in the week of September 8, 2026. The campaign totals about 30,000 metres of drilling, including 25,000 metres to upgrade mineral resources in the silver and gold zones, with additional step-out drilling to test extensions and new geophysical targets.

  • None.

Filing Explained

The filing adds that site preparation is underway, including mobilization of drilling equipment and contractors, and that the campaign will collect metallurgical, geotechnical, and hydrological data for the planned feasibility study.

Carangas Project area 39 km² Area covered by Administrative Mining Contracts for the Carangas Project
AMC term 30 years Fixed term of the Administrative Mining Contracts for Carangas
Total 2026 Carangas drilling 30,000 metres Planned drilling in the 2026 Carangas drill program
Resource-upgrade drilling 25,000 metres Portion of 2026 Carangas drilling to upgrade silver and gold zone resources
Administrative Mining Contracts regulatory
"report the signing of the Administrative Mining Contracts ("AMCs") for its Carangas"
Administrative mining contracts are agreements where a company or individual is granted the right to explore and extract minerals or resources from a specific area, often under certain administrative or governmental oversight. These contracts typically outline the responsibilities, rights, and payments involved, serving as a formal authorization to conduct mining activities. For investors, they indicate how resource rights are managed and can impact the potential profitability and legal stability of mining operations.
Prospecting and Exploration Licences regulatory
"convert the Carangas Project's existing Prospecting and Exploration Licences ("PELs") to AMCs"
Environmental Impact Assessment regulatory
"including the environmental categorization and subsequent Environmental Impact Assessment process"
An environmental impact assessment is a process that evaluates how a planned project or development might affect the natural environment, including air, water, land, and wildlife. It helps identify potential risks and suggests ways to minimize harm before the project begins. For investors, it matters because projects with significant environmental risks may face delays, increased costs, or restrictions, affecting their overall viability and returns.
induced polarization surveys technical
"testing new targets such as the standalone chargeability anomalies of the induced polarization surveys"
net present value financial
"statements regarding: the ratification and approval ... estimates regarding net present value, Mineral"
Net present value is a way to measure the value of a future amount of money today. It considers how money available in the future is worth less than money now because of potential earning opportunities or inflation. Investors use it to decide whether an investment is worthwhile, aiming for projects with positive net present value, meaning they are expected to generate more value than they cost.
Mineral Resources technical
"estimates regarding net present value, Mineral Reserves and Mineral Resources; anticipated"
Mineral resources are naturally occurring concentrations of metals or other valuable materials in the earth that could be mined and sold, like pockets of useful ingredients inside a giant pantry. For investors they show the raw-material potential behind a mining project: bigger or higher-quality resources can mean more future revenue, while the cost, technical difficulty and regulatory hurdles determine how much of that value can actually be realized.

How large is the 2026 Carangas drill program for NEWP?

The 2026 Carangas drill program totals about 30,000 metres. Approximately 25,000 metres are allocated to upgrading mineral resources in both the silver and gold zones, with the remainder focused on step-out drilling and testing new geophysical targets identified in 2023 surveys.

When will NEWP start drilling at Carangas in 2026?

New Pacific Metals plans to commence the 2026 Carangas drill program in the week of September 8, 2026. Site preparation is underway, including mobilizing drilling equipment and contractors for the 30,000‑metre campaign.

What remains for NEWP to secure mining tenure at Carangas?

After signing the AMCs, New Pacific Metals must obtain ratification and approval from the Plurinational Legislative Assembly of Bolivia. Following this legislative approval, the company expects to progress remaining permitting and technical work, including environmental categorization and an Environmental Impact Assessment.

What technical work will NEWP conduct as part of the 2026 Carangas program?

As part of the 2026 program, New Pacific Metals plans to collect samples for metallurgical test work and carry out geotechnical and hydrological drilling, providing data to support a planned feasibility study for the Carangas Silver-Gold Project.

What type of company is NEWP and where are its main projects?

New Pacific Metals is a Canadian exploration and development company with two permitting-stage precious metals projects in Bolivia: the Silver Sand project in Potosí and the Carangas Silver-Gold Project in the Oruro Department.

New Pacific Metals Reports Signing of Administrative Mining Contracts and Commencement of the 2026 Drill Program at the Carangas Project

VANCOUVER, BC, Aug. 26, 2026 /CNW/ -- New Pacific Metals Corp. (TSX: NUAG) (NYSE-A: NEWP) ("New Pacific" or the "Company") is pleased to report the signing of the Administrative Mining Contracts ("AMCs") for its Carangas Silver-Gold Project (the "Carangas Project"), located in Oruro Department of Bolivia. As previously reported (July 16, 2026 news release), New Pacific successfully completed the prior consultation process on July 6, 2026, obtaining the consent of the Carangas community and other regional stakeholders as required to convert the Carangas Project's existing Prospecting and Exploration Licences ("PELs") to AMCs. The Company submitted the required documentation to the Bolivian authorities, and the Autoridad Jurisdiccional Administrativa Minera (Administrative Mining Jurisdictional Authority, or "AJAM") has now finalized the administrative conversion. The AMCs, which cover the approximately 39 km² Carangas Project, have a 30-year fixed term and were officially signed with AJAM on August 21, 2026.

The AMCs represent an important milestone in advancing the Carangas Project from exploration toward a long-term administrative mining framework and further de-risk the Carangas Project's permitting pathway.  The signed AMCs will now be submitted to the Plurinational Legislative Assembly of Bolivia for ratification and approval, representing the next key step toward formally obtaining the mining tenure. Following legislative approval, the Company expects to advance the Carangas Project's remaining permitting and technical work, including the environmental categorization and subsequent Environmental Impact Assessment process.

The Company also announced that the 2026 Carangas drill program is scheduled to commence the week of September 8th, 2026. The approximately 30,000 metre drilling campaign will include approximately 25,000 metres of drilling to upgrade mineral resources in both the silver zone and the gold zone with the balance focused on step-out drilling for potential extensions and testing new targets such as the standalone chargeability anomalies of the induced polarization surveys completed in 2023 beyond the known mineral resource area. Site preparation is underway, including mobilization of drilling equipment and contractors.  As part of the program the Company will gather data for the planned feasibility study, including  collecting samples for metallurgical test work and conducting geotechnical and hydrological drilling.

This news release has been reviewed and approved by Alex Zhang, P.Geo., Vice President of Exploration of New Pacific who is the designated qualified person for the Company.
