How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

Quarterly cash dividend $0.20 per share Payable November 17, 2026, to shareholders of record November 5, 2026
Net interest margin financial
"net interest margin increased to 3.70%"
Net interest margin measures how much a bank earns from lending and investing compared with what it pays for funding, expressed as a percentage of its interest-earning assets. Think of it like a grocery store’s markup: it shows the gap between buying cost and selling price per dollar of goods — here, the cost is interest paid and the sale is interest received. Investors watch it because a higher margin usually means a bank is more profitable and better at managing interest rate and credit conditions.
Adjusted net income financial
"Adjusted net income (non-GAAP)"
Adjusted net income is a company's reported profit after removing unusual, one-time, or non-operational items so the number reflects the business’s regular earning power. Investors use it like a cleaned-up scorecard — similar to judging a player’s season performance without a few fluke games — to compare companies or assess trends without being misled by rare gains or losses that won’t affect future cash flow.
Day 1 initial provision financial
"Day 1 initial provision from the Penns Woods acquisition"
Nonperforming loans financial
"nonperforming loans of 0.74%"
Nonperforming loans are loans on which borrowers have stopped making the scheduled interest or principal payments for an extended period (commonly 90 days or more) or are otherwise in serious danger of default. Think of them as IOUs that aren’t being repaid: they tie up a lender’s money, reduce future interest income, and force the lender to hold extra reserves or take losses. For investors, a rising share of nonperforming loans signals weakening credit quality, higher potential losses, and greater risk to a bank’s profitability and capital.
Net income $50.719 million Compared with $3.167 million in the prior-year quarter and $53.546 million in the prior quarter
Diluted earnings per share $0.34 per diluted share Compared with $0.02 in the prior-year quarter and $0.36 in the prior quarter
Adjusted net income (non-GAAP) $50.890 million Compared with $40.552 million in the prior-year quarter

Columbus, Ohio — October 26, 2026 Northwest Bancshares, Inc. (the “Company”) (Nasdaq: NWBI) announced net income for the quarter ended September 30, 2026 of $51 million, or $0.34 per diluted share. This represents an increase of $48 million compared to the same quarter last year, when net income was $3 million, or $0.02 per diluted share, and a decrease of $3 million compared to the prior quarter, when net income was $54 million, or $0.36 per diluted share. The annualized returns on average shareholders’ equity and average assets for the quarter ended September 30, 2026 were 10.42% and 1.18% compared to 0.69% and 0.08% for the same quarter last year and 11.20% and 1.27% for the prior quarter.

This decrease was primarily driven by an increase in provision for credit losses expense of $2 million and an increase in noninterest expense of $5 million which were partially offset by an increase in net interest income of $2 million and an increase in noninterest income of $2 million. The adjusted annualized returns on average shareholders’ equity (non-GAAP) and average assets (non-GAAP) for the quarter ended September 30, 2026 were 10.45% and 1.18% compared to 11.26% and 1.28% for the prior quarter.

The Company also announced that its Board of Directors declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.20 per share payable on November 17, 2026 to shareholders of record as of November 5, 2026. Based on the market value of the Company’s common stock as of September 30, 2026, this represents an annualized dividend yield of approximately 5.4%.

Louis J. Torchio, President and CEO, Northwest Bancshares commented, “The Northwest Team delivered yet another quarter of strong performance, with record total revenue and net interest income, and a balanced and consistent performance across the whole bank. We drove 31% year-over-year average loan growth in our C&I business, with continued growth in our national specialty business verticals and middle market portfolio, and benefited from the strength of our retail deposit franchise and low deposit costs, one of the best-in-class among our peers.

We continue to execute our strategy for delivering sustainable, responsible growth, investing in its key drivers, including our people, our communities and the physical infrastructure that make it possible. In the third quarter we opened our first two financial centers in Columbus, added talent in the Columbus market and to our senior leadership team, and maintained our expense management discipline, with an efficiency ratio of 58.9% and adjusted efficiency ratio of 57.8%. We were also recognized in Forbes' World's Top Performing Banks 2026.

We look forward to a strong finish in the fourth quarter of 2026, as we build on the momentum the team is developing in Columbus and across our entire retail footprint and commercial network. Our focus remains on driving excellence across all aspects of the bank, continuing to optimize our operations, and serving our core customers and communities with the personal approach they value.”

This release contains financial information determined by methods other than in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America (“GAAP”). Management uses these “non-GAAP” measures in its analysis of the Company’s performance. Management believes these non-GAAP financial measures allow for better comparability of period-to-period operating performance. Additionally, the Company believes this information is utilized by regulators and market analysts to evaluate a company’s financial condition and therefore, such information is useful to investors. These disclosures should not be viewed as a substitute for operating results determined in accordance with GAAP, nor are they necessarily comparable to non-GAAP performance measures that may be presented by other companies. See the pages 9 and 10 of this release for reconciliations of non-GAAP financial measures to the most directly comparable GAAP measures where applicable.
