Dr. Reddy’s H1 FY27 profit falls 52% to ₹13.7B
The company said its underlying base business, excluding North American lenalidomide, delivered double-digit growth except in Europe and API.
Sentiment and the balance of points
Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.
Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Limited (RDY) reported consolidated revenue of ₹167.4 billion for the six months ended September 30, 2026, down 3.5% year over year, while profit attributable to equity holders fell 52% to ₹13.7 billion. EBITDA was ₹27.9 billion, down 40%, and profit before tax was ₹17.8 billion, down 52%. Net cash generated from operating activities was ₹4.4 billion, compared with ₹30.2 billion in the year-earlier half.
North American revenue fell 29% to ₹46.9 billion, which the company attributed largely to lower lenalidomide sales; India revenue rose 17% to ₹35.7 billion, and Q2 FY27 Emerging Markets revenue increased 24% to ₹20.6 billion. In August 2026, the company initiated a recall in Canada of Semaglutide batches due to elevated levels of an unspecified impurity above the approved specification limit and a packaging and labelling error; it recorded ₹710 million for expected product returns as a revenue reduction. Gross margin for the half was 49.4%, versus 55.8% a year earlier.
How this balance works
Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.
It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.
Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

H1FY27 consolidated revenues at ₹167.4 billion, growth of 3.5% YoY.
Growth was impacted primarily on account of lower lenalidomide revenues in North America. The underlying base business, i.e. excluding lenalidomide in North America, continued to deliver double-digit growth across businesses, excluding Europe and API, further supported by favourable currency movements.
Global Generics (GG)
| · | Q2FY27 revenues at ₹77.9 billion, decline of 0.7% YoY and growth of 8% QoQ, accounting for 90% of Q2FY27 consolidated revenues. |
H1FY27 revenues at ₹149.9 billion, decline of 2.7% YoY, accounting for 90% of H1FY27 consolidated revenues.
Branded businesses, namely India, Emerging Markets and the acquired consumer health portfolio in Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT), account for 53% of Q2FY27 consolidated revenues and 52% of H1FY27 consolidated revenues.
North America
| · | Q2FY27 revenues at ₹24.9 billion, decline of 23% YoY and growth of 13% QoQ. |
H1FY27 revenues at ₹46.9 billion, decline of 29% YoY.
Decline was largely due to lower lenalidomide sales.
| · | During the quarter, we launched six new products, while a total of 12 new products were launched in H1FY27. |
| · | We filed five new Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDAs) with the USFDA during the quarter, taking the total to 10 for H1FY27. |
| · | As of September 30, 2026, filings pending approval from USFDA were 80, including: |
| - | 77 ANDAs (46 are Paragraph IV applications, and 27 may have a ‘First to File’ status) and |
| - | Three New Drug Applications (NDAs) filed u/s 505(b)(2), of which one is a Paragraph IV application. |

H1FY27 revenues at ₹38.9 billion, growth of 23% YoY, accounting for 23% of H1FY27 consolidated revenues.
YoY growth was largely driven by new launches across markets, further aided by favourable forex.
| - | Q2FY27 Russia revenues at ₹10.1 billion, growth of 15% YoY and 12% QoQ. |
H1FY27 Russia revenues at ₹19.1 billion, growth of 21% YoY.
Growth was aided by acquisitions, price increases and favorable currency movements.
| - | Q2FY27 Other Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries and Romania revenues at ₹2.6 billion, growth of 13% YoY and 21% QoQ. |
H1FY27 CIS and Romania revenues at ₹4.8 billion, growth of 12% YoY.
Favourable currency movements were the key driver of growth.
| - | Q2FY27 Rest of World (RoW) revenues at ₹7.9 billion, growth of 44% YoY and 11% QoQ. |
![]() | ![]() | ![]() |
| 7 |
H1FY27 RoW revenues at ₹15.0 billion, growth of 43% YoY.
Growth was led by new product launches across countries, aided by favourable currency tailwinds.
| · | During Q2FY27, we launched 27 new products across countries, taking the total to 70 for H1FY27. |
India
| · | Q2FY27 revenues at ₹18.5 billion, growth of 17% YoY and 8% QoQ, accounting for 21% of Q2FY27 consolidated revenues. |
H1FY27 revenues at ₹35.7 billion, growth of 17% YoY, accounting for 21% of H1FY27 consolidated revenues.
Growth was driven by revenues from new brand launches, supported by price increases, volume growth, and contributions from recently acquired portfolios.
As per IQVIA data published for September 2026, our rank in the Indian Pharmaceutical Market (IPM) was at 8th on a Moving Quarterly Total (MQT) and 9th on a Moving Annual Total (MAT) basis. We continued to outperform IPM, with secondary sales growth of 21.0% as compared to IPM growth of 14.7% on a MQT basis and 19.4% as compared to IPM growth of 13.2% on a MAT basis.

Europe
| · | Q2FY27 revenues at ₹13.9 billion, growth of 1% YoY and decline of 3% QoQ, accounting for 16% of Q2FY27 consolidated revenues. |
H1FY27 revenues at ₹28.4 billion, growth of 7% YoY, accounting for 17% of H1FY27 consolidated revenues.
Revenues from new generic product launches and favourable currency movements were partially offset by pricing pressure in generics. NRT revenues declined primarily due to continued impact of operating model change post-integration, as highlighted in Q1FY27.
| - | Q2FY27 NRT revenues at ₹6.6 billion, decline of 6% YoY and flat QoQ. |

Lower volume uptake in the API business, was partially offset by double digit growth in CDMO business and currency tailwinds.
| · | During the quarter, we filed 28 Drug Master Files (DMFs) globally, taking the total to 66 for H1FY27. |
