Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

adjusted diluted earnings per share financial
"adjusted diluted EPS was $2.81"
Adjusted diluted earnings per share is the company’s net profit per share after accounting for potential extra shares (from options or convertible securities) and removing one‑time or unusual items so the number reflects ongoing business results. Think of it like timing a runner’s steady pace after excluding a few unexpected stops; it gives investors a clearer view of sustainable profit available to each share. Investors use it to compare companies and judge underlying profitability and valuation without short‑term distortions.
operating ratio financial
"Operating ratio of 87.6%"
A company's operating ratio is a simple percentage that shows how much of its revenue is eaten up by the costs of running the business — calculated by dividing operating expenses by operating revenue. For investors it signals efficiency and profit potential: a lower operating ratio means the company keeps more of each dollar it earns (like a household with lower bills keeping more of its paycheck), while a higher ratio suggests tighter margins and less room to absorb shocks.
free cash flow financial
"Free cash flow (Non-GAAP)"
Free cash flow is the amount of money a company has left over after paying all its expenses and investing in its business, like buying equipment or updating facilities. It shows how much cash is available to reward shareholders, pay down debt, or save for future growth. This helps investors understand if a company is financially healthy and able to grow.
10b5-1 trading plan regulatory
"including a 10b5-1 trading plan"
A 10b5-1 trading plan is a pre-arranged strategy that allows company insiders to buy or sell company stock at set times, regardless of their current knowledge about the company's situation. It acts like a scheduled appointment for trading, helping prevent the appearance of impropriety or insider trading. This plan provides a way for insiders to sell or buy shares in a controlled, transparent manner, offering reassurance to investors about fair trading practices.
net capital expenditures financial
"expects that net capital expenditures will be approximately $350 million"
Net capital expenditures are the cash a business spends on buying, improving or replacing long-lasting assets (like factories, equipment or buildings) minus any cash it receives from selling similar assets. Think of it as the money a homeowner puts into new appliances and roof repairs after selling an old car — it shows how much a company is investing to maintain or grow its ability to produce future revenue. Investors watch this number because it directly reduces available cash, signals growth or maintenance needs, and helps assess future profitability and the company’s capital intensity.
Revenue $982.5 million Increased 17.0% year over year
Diluted earnings per share $3.41 Compared with $3.22 in third quarter 2025
Operating income $122.3 million Increased 3.1% compared with third quarter 2025 GAAP operating income and 17.5% compared with adjusted third quarter 2025 operating income
Operating ratio 87.6% Compared with 85.9% in third quarter 2025 and 87.6% on an adjusted basis in third quarter 2025
Guidance

Net capital expenditures are expected to be approximately $350 million for full-year 2026, subject to ongoing evaluation of market conditions.

1 Non-GAAP Financial Disclosure and Reconciliation:

From time to time we supplement the reporting of our financial information determined under generally accepted accounting principles (“GAAP”) with certain non-GAAP financial measures. These include “adjusted” total operating expenses, “adjusted” operating income, “adjusted” diluted earnings per share, free cash flow and “adjusted” operating ratio. The Company’s management believes that certain non-GAAP financial measures provide a greater understanding of ongoing operations and enhance comparability of results with prior periods. The Company’s management believes that investors may use these non-GAAP financial measures to evaluate the Company’s financial performance without the impact of items that may obscure trends in the Company’s underlying performance. These disclosures should not be viewed as a substitute for financial measures determined in accordance with GAAP, nor are they necessarily comparable to non-GAAP performance measures that may be presented by other companies.

A gain from the sale of a terminal of $16.4 million and a loss on real estate impairment of $1.9 million was recorded during the third quarter of 2025. This resulted in a decrease in operating expenses and an increase in operating income of $14.5 million and an increase in diluted earnings per share of $0.41. The transactions increased diluted earnings per share by $0.54 on a pre-tax basis, partially offset by related income tax expense of $0.13. Additionally, this produced an improvement of 170 basis points in the operating ratio for the third quarter of 2025. The terminal sale occurred as the result of management’s efforts towards expanding door count by replacing a smaller facility with a larger facility better positioned to successfully support the Company’s overall strategy. The impairment loss came as a result of management's continued assessment of the recoverability of property and equipment.

Enhances transportation, supply-chain and technology expertise on Board

JOHNS CREEK, GA – October 29, 2026 - Saia, Inc., (Nasdaq: SAIA), a leading provider of less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation services, today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Todd C. Fowler to its Board of Directors (the “Board”), effective immediately. Mr. Fowler will serve on the Board’s Audit Committee.

Mr. Fowler brings deep transportation and logistics industry knowledge, extensive capital markets expertise and a strong understanding of autonomous trucking and supply-chain technology to the Board. His experience analyzing transportation companies and evaluating their strategies, financial performance and competitive positioning provides the Board with a valuable perspective on industry dynamics, capital allocation and profitable growth opportunities.

“Todd is a highly experienced professional who brings deep industry knowledge and a complementary skillset that aligns with Saia’s operations and strategic direction,” said Saia Chairman, Rick O’Dell. “His expertise across capital markets, supply-chain and domestic trucking will be a valuable addition to the Board as we advance our national strategy to drive profitable growth and long-term stockholder value.”

Mr. Fowler serves as Director of Strategic Partners at Autotech Ventures, an early stage, mobility and logistics focused venture firm, where he manages relationships with the firm’s multinational corporate limited partners, advising boards, executives and strategy teams on technology-related strategic initiatives. Before joining Autotech Ventures, he served as Managing Director at KeyBanc Capital Markets, where he established and led the firm’s transportation and logistics equity research practice, covering the logistics and autonomous trucking industries. Earlier in his career, Mr. Fowler worked in equity research at FTN Midwest Securities, covering the aerospace, defense and transportation sectors.
