Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

Rhea-AI Filing Summary

Snap-on Inc. (SNA) reported third-quarter 2026 net sales of $1,183.7 million, down $7.1 million (0.6%) from a year earlier. Organic sales declined $33.1 million (2.8%); $25.6 million of acquisition-related sales and $0.4 million of favorable currency translation partly offset the decline. Net earnings attributable to Snap-on were $243.0 million, or $4.64 per diluted share, versus $265.4 million, or $5.02, in 2025.

Results varied by segment: Commercial & Industrial Group sales and operating earnings were $404.3 million and $74.7 million, compared with $367.7 million and $57.5 million. Snap-on Tools Group sales were $471.5 million, down from $506.0 million; management said higher diesel prices prompted franchisees to reduce mobile-van inventories despite stable technician demand. Snap-on expects 2026 capital expenditures to approximate $100 million, including $69.0 million incurred in the first nine months, and currently anticipates a full-year effective income tax rate of approximately 22%.

How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

organic sales financial
"References in this release to “organic sales” refer to sales from continuing operations"
Organic sales are the change in a company’s revenue that comes from its existing business operations, excluding effects of acquisitions, divestitures, and currency swings. Think of it like measuring how much a garden grows from the plants you already tended, rather than adding new pots; investors use organic sales to judge whether demand and core business performance are genuinely improving or if growth is driven by one‑time deals or accounting shifts.
intersegment borrowings financial
"The financing needs of Financial Services are met through intersegment borrowings"
finance receivables financial
"Finance receivables – net"
Finance receivables are amounts a company expects to collect from customers or borrowers after providing goods, services, leases, or loans on credit—essentially the IOUs recorded on its balance sheet. They matter to investors because they represent future cash inflows but carry the risk of nonpayment; rising receivables can signal growing sales or cash strain, and changes in their quality affect a company’s liquidity, profit forecasts, and overall financial health.
weighted-average shares outstanding financial
"Weighted-average shares outstanding"
Weighted-average shares outstanding is the average number of shares of a company's stock that are available to investors over a specific period, adjusted for any changes like new share issues or buybacks. It matters to investors because it ensures that earnings and profits are accurately divided among all shareholders, providing a fair view of the company's profitability per share over time.

Mixed sales results reflect accelerated turbulence, but gross margins hold strong;
Activity with critical industries continues to expand

KENOSHA, Wis. — October 22, 2026 — Snap-on Incorporated (NYSE: SNA), a leading global innovator, manufacturer and marketer of tools, equipment, diagnostics, repair information and systems solutions for professional users performing critical tasks, today announced operating results for the third quarter of 2026.
•Net sales of $1,183.7 million in the third quarter of 2026 represented a decrease of $7.1 million, or 0.6%, from 2025 levels, reflecting a $33.1 million, or 2.8%, organic sales decline, partially offset by $25.6 million of acquisition-related sales and $0.4 million of favorable foreign currency translation.
•Operating earnings before financial services for the quarter of $248.1 million, or 21.0% of net sales, compared to $278.5 million, or 23.4% of net sales, last year, which included a benefit of $22.0 million, or 190 basis points, from the settlement of a legal matter (the “legal settlement”).
•Financial services revenue in the quarter of $98.6 million compared to $101.1 million in 2025; financial services operating earnings of $68.3 million compared to $68.9 million last year.
•Consolidated operating earnings for the quarter of $316.4 million, or 24.7% of revenues (net sales plus financial services revenue), compared to $347.4 million, or 26.9% of revenues, in 2025, which included a benefit of $22.0 million, or 170 basis points, from the legal settlement.
•The third quarter effective income tax rate was 22.3% in 2026 and 22.6% in 2025.

See “Non-GAAP Measures” below for a definition of, and further explanation about, organic sales.
“Our third quarter was mixed with varied outcomes among our business groups. The results were principally marked by the unprecedentedly accelerated rise in diesel prices, which in our mobile van channel prompted franchisees to reduce inventories despite very stable demand from their technician customers, substantially impacting the Tools Group in the period and overcoming what was an encouraging, record-setting performance in the Commercial & Industrial Group, led by gains in the critical industries and the precision torque arena,” said Nick Pinchuk, Snap-on chairman and chief executive officer. “But even with the challenges raised by the extreme turbulence, Snap-on Value Creation continued to support a resilience that kept gross margins strong. The headwinds notwithstanding, we remained confident on the path forward, investing in innovations identified through customer connection and developed by our engineering teams to solve essential tasks…many of which recently received awards from Motor Magazine and Professional Tool & Equipment News…reinforcing the power of the Snap-on

brand…even as we engaged the difficulties. As we look ahead, we believe the Tools Group is well-positioned with its robust array of quick-payback products to drive progress as the wave passes; our proprietary databases are increasingly effective at streamlining work in independent vehicle repair shops, and we possess considerable momentum across the critical industries based on the growing popularity of our customized solutions. And, we believe these strengths will combine to reestablish and extend our positive trajectory. Finally, I want to thank our franchisees and associates for their many contributions, for their unwavering commitment to meet the macro environment, and for their steadfast faith in our ability to take full advantage of the abundant opportunities in our future.”
Segment Results
Commercial & Industrial Group segment sales of $404.3 million in the quarter compared to $367.7 million last year, reflecting a $27.0 million, or 7.4%, organic gain and $10.0 million of acquisition-related sales, partially offset by $0.4 million of unfavorable foreign currency translation. The organic increase includes higher sales in each of the segment’s operations.
Operating earnings of $74.7 million in the period compared to $57.5 million in 2025. The operating margin (operating earnings as a percentage of segment sales) of 18.5% compared to 15.6% last year.
Snap-on Tools Group segment sales of $471.5 million in the quarter compared to $506.0 million last year, reflecting a $35.7 million, or 7.0%, organic sales decline, partially offset by $1.2 million of favorable foreign currency translation. The organic decrease is due to lower sales both in the U.S. and in the segment’s international operations.
Operating earnings of $84.8 million in the period compared to $109.9 million in 2025. The operating margin of 18.0% compared to 21.7% a year ago.

The organic decrease is primarily due to reduced activity with OEM dealerships.
Operating earnings of $116.1 million in the period compared to $141.2 million in 2025, which included a benefit of $22.0 million from the legal settlement. The operating margin of 25.5% compared to 30.4% last year, which included a benefit of 480 basis points from the legal settlement.

Outlook

Non-GAAP Measures
References in this release to “organic sales” refer to sales from continuing operations calculated in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles in the United States (“GAAP”), adjusted to exclude acquisition-related sales and the impact of foreign currency translation. Management evaluates the company’s sales performance based on organic sales growth, which primarily reflects growth from the company’s existing businesses as a result of increased output, expanded customer base, geographic expansion, new product development and pricing changes, and excludes sales contributions from acquired operations the company did not own as of the comparable prior-year reporting period. Organic sales also exclude the effects of foreign currency translation as foreign currency translation is subject to volatility that can obscure underlying business trends. Management believes that the non-GAAP financial measure of organic sales is meaningful to investors as it provides them with useful information to aid in identifying underlying growth trends in the company’s businesses and facilitates comparisons of its sales performance with prior periods.
